Similar to the other creative forums, the Sound Discussions area is broken up into simple, logical sections. As with all the other concept and development forums, if you would like to start a thread concerning a sound-related topic, please include the relevant category in the thread title.

Right now, we have the following sound areas:

1. Sound Effects: Atmospheric effects, background sounds, random noises, creature noises, and pretty much any other sound effect type you can think of fits under this category.

2. Voice Discussions: This is aimed specifically at human voices, the recorded dialogue for NPC’s and spoken words of all types. Also includes ideas for adding effects to spoken parts in the mod to deepen, lighten or otherwise alter a vocal sample.

3. Music: The entire spectrum of musical compositions for a modding purpose comes under this heading.

Sounds are an area that doesn’t usually receive as much attention as does the visual aspect of Oblivion modding. We would very much like as much creative and useful input here, both for High Rock itself and to share with all the other mods at Silgrad. If you have a suggestion for a new sound category, we definitely want to hear about it in Ye Officialle Suggestion Threadde in the Tavern.

Note also that any and all aspiring musicians, whether they are focused on composing, arranging or recording and mixing music are very welcome here. Orignal sound samples are encouraged, if you would like to share your work and we would ask that you post them similar to other resources – either as an attachment, if they fit within the 500 kb limit of the Beyond Cyrodiil boards, or through an outside link to the file in question.

Important Note: As with photographs and visual artwork, we ask you to respect any and all copyrights. When in doubt, always ask for explicit written permission of the original composer/creator or copyright holder before posting and if you cannot get permission, don’t post it! Posting sound items that are either game resources not authorized Bethesda or are items not okayed by their original composer/copyright holder will force us to remove them, so please make sure to follow this rule to the letter and without exception. Also note that midis from TES1 should be safe enough, since that game has been released online as a free download by Bethesda.
