Although
Evermore has had quite a bit of design work devoted to it in the
original incarnation of the High Rock mod, it will still require more
development to get into the game.
Evermore
Facts:
- The city is land-locked by the western spur of the surrounding Wrothgarian Mountains,
- Evermore is the geographically the closest of the eight city-states to the Crypt of Hearts.
TES1 Proto-Lore
(The following is offered as a resource to supplement DarkAsmodeus'
excellent design work. Some, all, or even none of this may be useful
when the city is fully fleshed out, but it is here for reference if
desired.)
- The city has only one gate leading in to it, in the center of the north city wall.
- The gate to the city has four fountains near it, two to either side if the entry.
- The palace is located to the north as well.
- There appear to be many more fountains and parks in Evermore then in any other High Rock city.
- Much larger then average Mage's Guild.
- Circular central park, just north of the commercial district.
- Park with a circle of pillars and a single lantern in the middle of it on the western edge of town.
- Large square park with a fountain near the central portion of the southern city wall.
- First unique possible church location: one within a hedge maze (druidic grove perhaps?)
- Second unique church location: three to either side of a pond.
- Upon entering the city this welcome message appears:"We
of Evermore welcome you into our walls. Many call this their home and
extend their welcome. Remember this, lest you forget who you would face
in the world outside."
Developed Lore
In the mod's development document we have the following description
of the city's layout, originally written by DarkAsmodeus, the first
developer of the city-state:
- Long ago water gathered in small pockets of the mountains and wore
away a large, relatively flat are except for the bowls left by water,
which remained longer. Now dry except for one large lake kept clean by
the constant freezing and refreezing of ice at the bottom, currently
unexplained.
- The city is built with 3 rings of roads around the lake with
alleyways connecting them and a main road running through all three at
each end. The man-made islands in the lake support 3-5 buildings a
piece and are connected to each other via bridges, but they must first
be reached via boat.
- The castle has no bridges connecting it to land, it does have a large
gate that a transport ship may enter in to transfer large goods. The
lake connects to a treacherous river, which feeds into the main river.
In TES1, Evermore looks like this, followed by the heraldry developed by the original High Rock mod for the city:
