Creature Claim - Monster Consolidation and More |
|
Now that we have the directory structure for the mod hashed out as
listed in the relevant sticky above, we need to start consolidating
some of our assets to get the claims section going. We have done a
great job on the Lore section (thanks for all the excellent input so
far gang!) with lots more to go, however, I would like to get the Claims area started.
I guess the first thing that needs to be understood here is that our
claims are not following the more standardized pattern of Silgrad and
the various other mods. There are a couple of reasons for this:
1. We have a tone of resources and assets scattered throughout many of other files.
2. We are waiting for development of the new height map to get to the point where it is ready to go into the CS.
3. Perhaps the biggest announcement of all: Gyssar is working
towards getting us set up with a database server to track and hold all
of our claims and assets. What that means is that we, as modders, will
be able to create a claim and then upload it directly to a master
server which has all of the resources already on it. As you can
imagine, this is a pretty mammoth undertaking - this is one of the main
reasons we have gone about things in the manner we have since
re-launching the mod. The organization time we have spent has allowed
Gyssar to scurry around busily behind the scenes gathering equipment
and the know-how to make this a reality. It will still take some months
of time to get everything collected, set up and fine-tuned, but it is
coming and we have parts in place already.
So, now that you have an idea of what is going on and why the claims
section has been the quietest of the all forums since the mod's
inception, we'd like to get started on claiming here and now. We
currently have a number of items that can be worked on now, which do
not require the height map for reference. These include monsters,
books, clothing, scripted items and so forth. This particular post is
(hopefully) the place where we begin to tackle these.
I am going to try setting up our first "official" open claim.
Understand that the claims posting method will evolve, just s
everything else in the project is. I'll try to be specific here, but
will likely edit this post multiple times to get something close to a
final format. (When in doubt, check back to this first message.)
We need all of your input as well - I'll be blunt: Gyssar
is understandably busy with the HM and preparations for the future of
the mod and I've never posted a claim before, either in the original
mod or this one. So, we need lots of feedback and constructive
criticism to get the claims system both accurate and easy to use. We
have a claims structure outlined in the stickies here in the Claims Forum,
it's now a matter of refinement. Once we have this refined, we can get
a number of other claims that are in rpogress posted officially. (These
include the clothing that Lady N is working on, a number of books that
Deeza has written for the mod and so forth.)
With that said, here goes...
Claim File Name: HRK_HR_MasterCreatureFile_00001.ESP
Directory Structure
Meshes\HR\Creatures\
Textures\HR\Creatures\
Purpose: We need to collect all of the monsters currently in a
finished form from the resource ESPs into a master ESP file. This job
will include moving the 3D assets, scripts and all other other items
associated with the creatures in question. We do not need any of
the leveled lists from the associated files since we will be creating
our own, so please exclude these in your work.
The current monsters that need consolidation include:
1. Mr. Siilka's bats
2. Malo and Elveon's Gaint Spiders
3. The gargoyles from the Lore Creature Expansion.
4. The giants and flesh antronachs from Phitt's Loreless Creature Pack.
The links to the source files for these creatures are given in the "Creatures - Monsters" section here.
(Note that you may need to have a membership with the file host in order to download some of these files. Membership is free.)
Finished File: This will likely be too large to attach to the
board at the moment. We will have to evolve a method to get the file
from the modder to us as we go.
OK folks, let the input begin...
