Concept Art Needed - Tthe Orc City of Orsinium |
|
Hi everyone!
Time to get stuck into the meat of this project - working out designs
for the new objects that will need to be created. The city of Orsinium
will most likely need a new architecture style, as it is completely
different to any other cities in High Rock and, actually, in the rest
of the world. For one thing, and most importantly, it's made entirely
out of iron and steel.
This thread is intended as a brainstorming session for designing this
city. It needs to be unique enough to be interesting to players on the
one hand, but also not too complicated for modelers to make on the
other hand.
Braggi will open the discussion soon with some screenshots, expected
shortly, showing the city of Orsinium as it was depicted in Daggerfall.
Obviously this is only a rough guide, as the graphics lack detail and
the game was set twenty years ago - many things will have changed. But
nevertheless, these screenshots should be our starting point for
designs.
We will need designs for (to begin with):
The Palace of King Gortwog (extended from the Fortress seen in Daggerfall)
The Temple of Trinimac (I envisaged something similar to Daedric
architecture from Morrowind, perhaps laid out in a ziggurat-like tower)
The Tower of the Orsimer (a huge structure, only half-completed, which will be important in quests)
Block Forts (of various sizes, each of these contains a tribe of orcs - they fill the role of houses)
Guard Towers (a similar size and capacity to the ones in Morrowind, placed at crossroads)
City Walls and square defensive towers, with Gates
Orc Huts for outside the city (for the shepherds of the giant centipedes under development by Koniption)
For more information please check out this thread:
Orsinium
And download the .rar file.
It contains a lot of the first-draft background information about the city.
All right - take a good look at Braggi's screenshots once they're up and let's get going!

Thankyou!
I actually think that palace doesn't need much work as a concept. It
has a highly individual look of its own, and because of the blocky
shapes and sharp angles (due to graphics limitations I know, but it
seems appropriate for the orcs), it wouldn't be that difficult to model
either.
The challenge now is, can we design other buildings that fit with the same style?
I will post a couple of my own quick sketches later to get things moving.

Delighted to be of service!
(Doffs cap.)
And I agree. there is something fitting about this architecture style
for the orcs. I'm glad it will be useful and let's see those sketches
whenever you have them ready!

I must say, I will be most interested in seeing the progress regarding this city. Good luck!
