Everyone knows you can't have a group of knights without a Tournament!
So, I'm thinking that there would be a 'tournament' set-up outside each
city, with the player having to win one to advance to the next, etc,
with the opportunity to fight in for a Knightly Order (a prerequsite
would be the player has to be apart of one), fighting in differnt tyes
of events, e.g. magickal, blunt, blade, or long range combat (which can
be done by effectively, and fairly by removing all the player items,
equiping the armour of the knights they are fighting for, and the type
of item they are fighting with, with a ring taking away all of their
magick if they aren't in the magickal event).
We wouldn't be able to have jousting, but in the RW, medieval tournaments were made up of lots of differnt events.
The tournaments wouldn't be constantly there, and would eventually get
packed up (e.g. there would only be like three tournaments active at
one time), and move around (with certain Npcs tied specifically to
Tournament, such as offering services to competing knights, etc).
Edit: I'm currently modeling a extra large tent mesh for the Quilll
Circus, and a retexture of that can be used for the Tournament.

It needs OBSE, and it's not even released, and I doubt it will ever be,
seeing as the team who was working on it broke up (it wasn't just
mr_siika working on it), and no updates have been made for a long
time. It also complicates everything, and it requires a lot more work
than any other event (lots more models, extra scripts, etc), which just
soaks up time.

Oh well.
That's a pity.
One version of it was released as a modder's resource, but I have no idea whether or not it was finished.
Perhaps we could make use of some of the assets bundled with it though?

I think that this is the most complete version that was made available.
I could have sworn there was a later one that got taken down for some
reason. But I haven't downloaded it myself however, so I can't be sure.

Unfortunate.
Seems like another project lost in the wastes of the internet...
Still, the other events sound like good and workable ideas.

So, if the player is part of a knightly order, will they be able to
take part in any tournament outside any city, regardless of which order
they are a member of? Or will there be entry requirements (eg. being
champion of another tournament, or having a certain skill level?) |

The player will be able to take part in three differnt competitions
(with 4+ events in each) at first, and once they have finished one,
another one will open up to them. To enter in the first tournaments,
the player needs to be in a knightly order (and can choose via dialogue
which one they would like to enter on behalf, if they are a member of
more than one, this would include even the stock OB knightly orders).

Good plan!
So that's...
Knights of the Thorn, Knights of the Nine, Knights of the Virtuous Blood... any I've missed?

Deeza, you're forgetting that not everyone has Knights of the Nine.
Knights of the White Stallion is one you missed.

True. Plus, as a newly re-founded (although originally ancient) order
it probably wouldn't be eligible until it's got some quests under its
belt.

should come back as 0), though I could be wrong. |
Actually, that's an excellent idea, something similar is used in LAME
(Less Annoying Magic Experience) for the SI part of the mod. Might be
worth checking out how it's done there. |
