[Courtship Quests] Orsinium Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Though the overall dynamic is the same, courtship works a bit differently in Orsinium to the other cities, due to their very different culture. There will be several individuals available for courtship (details to be posted later) but the quests will share the following peculiarities:

1. Polygamy is considered normal in orc society. Orcs do not marry for life in the conventional sense. Rather, they marry until a challenger defeats their partner in single combat, after which they transfer to the winner. Thus an orc may accumulate many wives or husbands if they are so inclined. Additionally, orcs do not recognise any marriages outside orc law, so players are free to marry an orc even if they are already married outside Orsinium.

2. Physical prowess is the main criteria for marrying an orc, whether they are male or female. Traditional orc courtship involves a lot of fighting. This leads us on to...

3. To be considered worthy as a suitor, a player must be a renowned warrior. Different families have different criteria, but in general they must either have a sufficient level of fame, or have closed a certain number of oblivion gates (or done some other important achievement).

4. Suitors must present trophies, taken from various powerful opponents, as gifts during courtship as further proof of their valour.

5. Additionally, they must fight and defeat (though not necessarily kill) all other interested suitors.

6. Finally, no suitor will be considered worthy of marrying an orc unless they can beat them in unarmed combat.

7. An orc who accumulates enough wives, allies and offspring may start their own clan. Depending on how complicated this would be to script, this could be an option for the player.

* While Orsinium may regonise multiple spouses, elsewhere in High Rock the player couldn't court other Npcs if the player was already wed to an Orc, or multiple Orcs in Orsinium, and if the player 'marries' an Orc, they divorce any spouses elsewhere in High Rock.

* The player can't have offspring (we aren't changing gameplay mechanics here), nor start a clan (as it is how you mentioned, this would be to hard to do in Scripting terms); however the player could marry into a clan, e.g. taking bride(s)/Housband(s) of a particular clan, and when married you can move into one of the communal manors, essentially becomming apart of a clan.

* Please remember the player can still only Court Nobles of Orsinium, no matter how differnt Courtship in Orsinium is, the same basic rules of Courtship (gamplay mechanic wise) still apply.

- Apart from those things mentioned, what you've got there is good :) You've got to a maximum of 4 Npc slots you can use for Orsinium, and it would be good if atleast one of them wasn't an Orismer (to keep it somewhat balanced), e.g. being a Breton or something.

All good points, I will take that into account. They will all be nobles, and one of them will be a Breton.

Just a thought, why not have an elf?
Sort of studying the orcs existance etc or something.

EDIT: As in, instead of the Breton Tongue
