Ah, thanks for the information, Danath.
I wouldn't use mine ... at least not the one I submitted for I wanted
to do some longer recordings this weekend so there will be a variety to
choose from.
Greetings
Quentin

So I completed tune nr:1. Any ideas for what to name it? I'm out of inspiration. There is "only" some mixing/mastering left.
mirror of mp3 download url
It's a pretty heavy tune, made for some special dungeon or mountain
hall. I think it might be too dramatic to use as a "generic" tune, and
might fit better for some special occasion.. Just my thoughts though...
What do you guys think?
What do you think it should be used for (if at all)?

A new and finished work by Sulan, my favorite Silgrad Composer! It sounds great by the way.

If at all? You are kidding!
It would fit to any nord tomb or dungeon. A special occassion could be
the deepest level of the Riften catacombs, where that forgotten
nercomancer with his horde is at home. I imagine a lot of skulls and
bones there. This guy was enclosed down there for a long time. It
should be creepy there.

do their utmost to frighten off any evil spirits unlucky enough to be
caught in the city this eventide. The polished armor of the warriors
catches the colors and lights and throws it back in a kaleidoscope of

make their way to the courtyard in front of the Great Hall. Silence
falls.
At the top of the staircase stands the Tongue. He vied for this honor

The names roll from his tongue, solemn and sacred. The drums behind him
calling the spirits of the honored dead home to witness this, their

That's the environment. Dang.. I think that's a book too. lol |
The climax of that ceremony could be that a strong wind blows through
the yard and some real nord ghosts appear, dance around the tongue for
a short time and disappear...

Yeah! Something like that, the catacombs of Riften would be nice to use it for!
I'm planning a series of more generic dungeon/tomb songs, most of which
will not be as dramatic as this one but will sort of hint on the
melodies and character of this one.
I'm glad you guys like it
Edit 2006.04.29 00:04:
New atmosphere type tune. I think it would go well as one of the
"public songs" (public as in how Oblivion sorts them), played in towns
or indoors when you check your inventory and reads a book before your
character goes to sleep.
I'm quite happy with it and feel it's the first one I've made that can
be used as it currently is. Please feel free to express whatever your
feelings about it!

Awesome! I love it, would work great for some remote, sleepy little
village. I think it would also make a good adventure song. Seems like
it would fit nicely for hiking along with snow beggining to flurry. |

Yes, allthough a bit on the dramatic side I believe it can be broadly applied as an exploration and atmosphere song.
The way I see it it's the first definite song for Skyrim (if no-one
objects), with many more to come offcourse, the two posted at the top
of this thread can be considered "prototypes"...

New song
This one is also an atmosphere/exploration song. Mixing is more or less complete, and the volume is at the right level.

wish I could get to hear your music Sulan, but I don't have the
administrative access I would need to activate your kind of download on
this weird comp.
If it don't load direct into the MP3 player here from your end and self activate, all I get is an unusable file...

I'm working on some stuff. I'm not that versed in the celtic style, so I'll likely stick to dungeons and such.
I'm currently writing something that sounds very powerful and
foreboding, but maybe a bit too powerful for dungeon ambience, maybe
for a quest? I'll post it up when it's done.

Sweet! Looking forward to hear it!!
For a quest (or special event): I don't know how music will trigger in
the mod really... If the music will trigger by some script or if
they'll just go into the games music folder.
It'd be cool to be able to tie specific music to specific events or
places but on the other hand then the player might not be able to swap
music?
I don't know how it'll work.
I'm not well versed in Celtic or nordic music either. I only recently
started composing and try to aim for abit of a nordic folk-music
sound...

I'd say we should have unique music for major battles and events.
Adventure tunes should just go in the adventure folder, and I'd like to
see some unique tunes for taverns, marketplaces, to add some ambience
to the rather boring OB city music. |

We should also have a couple pieces that are made just using a quartet or something for when you go near bands.

Yeah we're thinking we'll make bards/gleemen
It's discussed here somewhere.
I think it'd be cool to have a gleemen that playes if you pay, you pay in alcohol, and the more you pay the worse he playes

The links for all but the most recently posted tune don't seem to be
working. Can you see if you can get them back up, since I have the
links in the Teaser threads on big mod sights. |

Funny I saw this thread I just downloaded an amazing music pack for
Oblivion. These songs are great very fitting. I love music, very much.
I always check out the music mods unless they're screaming death metal.
