Sulans concept art thread :) |
|
So I made a thread for all my concept contributions. New stuff will be in my last post.
Some ideas on riekling burrows, please excuse the hideous quality, my scanner is dead so I used the phone :/
I'll look into getting a new scanner soon, any suggestions on a good,
not too pricy scanner btw? (I had a Canoscan 8000f which was more than
good enough for me)

Nice work -Sulan-, I especially like the one carved into a tree. Would
you be interested in handling the development of our riekling lore? |

I love the arcitecture in the third picture, it would be lovely to see
some like that in small settlements along the northern coast.

I like the first one. The second one too. The third one isn't bad
either. Oh? The fourth looks interesting as well. The fifth looks
awesome.
In other words, good job, sometimes, I wish I could actually draw something.
Just one question about the first one though... What is it exactly?

Could we get someone making the Arcitecture in the Third Pic?
-Sulan- could you brack up the pieces of your arcitecture into functual
views(each piece needs a front, side and top view) so that a modeler
can easily model it.

Personally, I like the architecture in the second pic. It looks more
like stone and wood kind of material I imagined the smaller settlements
to be built like.

There is already arcitecture like in the second pic that shipped with Oblivion.

Which architecture are you refering to? That isn't Bruma architecture I
see in the diagram... I mean the simple stone and wood makes it feel
more northernly, and the market in the middle is also interesting. The
cold would make it nearly unbearable to be outside doing fine carvings
on the wood or anything, and the general feel of that architecture is
like an developing village.

The second one has a more memorable quality in it, and is more unique.
Also I was not refering to Bruma, but farm house with snow on it,
anyway brumas lower class looks like it to.

I?ll get to making front top side drawings of the third architecture!
I?ve got more drawings of it, since its a town in a Harnmaster (a P?n?P
RPG) module I?ve worked on.
I?m glad you like it!
It?s a rather clear/defined design so it?d suit a city?s castle, rich quarters and possibly merchant district me thinks...
That second one is more of individually built mideival type village houses, that kind of architecture is ofcourse also needed.
The monster was something I did long ago (not specifically for Skyrim)
but has been discussed as a possible Ice-wraith or something like
that...

The architecture in the third pic can probably be used for Solitude.

Using that arcitecture for the holds would ruin it me thinks, as it
would be cool to have arcitecture specifically for towns.

But is an entire new tileset worth creating for use once in a small
town? If we could do it that would be great, but I don't think its
plausible. |

YE GODs sulan, those are all beeeaautiful.
Here, I've been running around trying to get people to do illustrations
for plants in the Botany Books, and there you have been
hiding away your genius like a spoilt brat in the cupboard under the stairs with the biscuit tin!
Junk everything else and do more!
hmmm, now how can I make use of this wonderful discovery....binding
contracts, penalty clauses, wild parties and wilder women, the
photographers and the secret cameras... hope you enjoyed all that
(raggidman hides away several copies of the negatives just in case
Sulan tries to get 'difficult') hmmm
- right now that's sorted:
You can start with something like snow-drops if you want to add an RL
plant, but all the tiny spring flowers that pop up in the snow at the
first sign of a hit of sunshine should be in. Not just for Botany Books
in itself, but also to inspire modellers to create graphic models for
actual in-game plants.
Also there was a 'rare' plant on the top of a mountain in Solstheim - think it was to cure something...
You do realise you have been drafted don't you?

Spot on -Sulan-, they look terrific!
They would probably fit well in one of the new holds, can't think of a specific city at the moment.

Here are some more stuff...
*A little remote coast village with a little lighthouse I sketched together..
*A crazy port I found lying around here, not made for skyrim
specifically but I thought the terrain was funky so it might be
inspiring I dunno. With the port and city/town built into a canyon like
delta.
*Some cavalry with rugged northernlike horses, also not Skyrim specific
but it was for the Harnmaster module I babbled about and the folk on
the horses live where its very cold.. lol oh well..
*And if there were Wyverns in Skyrim this is what I think they?d look
like, I imagine it white and/or light grey or as a frost creature...

That coast village will be a big inspiration for making the Nordic
encampment/village in Solstheim that the Nords from Winterhold have
made.

Oh I love tongues in general
I'm glad you liked the village picture Toyb!!!
I hoped it could serve as inspiration! And thank you very much Gustave, you're most kind!!! I get very happy!
Here are some photos of mountains in Sweden during summer, it shows the
harsh rocks and gives a good feel for colours, the altitude is about
1500 metres I believe, so it's not that high but it's above the
treeline by good margin. There is also a mighty creature of Skyrim on
the pictures that is very dangerous even to high level characters, and
if you don't watch yourself she might lick your head off with that
slobby tongue...
If you wondered, the creature only has one eye. The other one poured out in a green-blueish goo... (it's actually true)...

Nice work, Sulan!
The village gives me some good ideas for building and compound models,
as does that marvelous rope bridge. You may have been well above the
tree line, but I noticed that shrubbery in the 3rd pic. Gives us more
ideas of what we can - and can't - do. |

Oh the third pic is a little lower I think, maybe 1000m/3000f. I?m not sure, long since I was there in the summer now...
But yeah some twisted little poor excuses for tree?s, bushes grow at
those heights over there, but not in the open, only in places where
they are somewhat protected and where the snow does?nt get too deep.
So one has to think about tree placement, where a little tree might be allowed to root..
There are certain flowers that grow there also, which are very small and white.
The landscape further down around this place is typical old pine forest
which is very dense at places, and less dense where there are more
rocks..
btw, you probably know but: The treeline is?nt at a fixed altitude. It
shifts depending on the climate, the past years you can see the
treeline climbing upwards by a few meters every year...
Hubbabubba: Something like the village is an hour or so, something like the wyvern is 4 hours or so
And thank you!!

Yes please, that would be very much appreciated.
However could you please do the other modeling job first, as it is a
much higher priority than this (The Architecture in the concept art
would be used in Solitude, the last hold we will be making).
So remember the *other* modeling job.
