Well, its over for me as leader of Skyrim, its been fun guys. With my
life the way it is now I just can't continue leading the mod project. A
new leader is needed. I apologize, I likely should have stepped down
sooner, because as of late I have been unable to fullfill my
responsibilities as team leader, and the project has slowed because of
that, notably I should have been able to contribute much more to
Haerter Gap. Before that though I had begun to lose will, and my
efficiency and work output had gone down though. Comparing me to other
team leaders I did not put out nearly as much work as I should have.
After much thought and deliberation I have decided that I will step
down from Skyrim for Oblivion Team Leader, and put in place a Dual
Leadership System. Essentially there will be two team leaders who work
in conjunction to lead the project, each being in charge of different
fields. If team leader Bob is in charge of Texture Dev, team leader
Steve cannot force Bob to change something in Texture Dev. Bob is in
charge because he is better fit to lead Texture Dev than Steve, and so
Steve cannot force him to do something. If Steve feels strongly enough
on the matter, he can bring it to the core, a vote will be held, and
the Core can decide that Bob must do as Steve says in that select
instance. There will still be moderators and heads of Dev on those
boards, but a team leader being in charge of that Dev board means they
have the final say in what happens there.
I make this decision for dual-leadership because if you remember I said
I was worn down/losing efficiency early in this post. Part of it was
because I had to try and manage what was going on every part of the
forum, even if I had no clue how to texture. It was very overwhelming.
With a dual-leadership system the project can have the work split
between two leaders, allowing them to focus on areas they like most and
are most talented at. Thus the risk of "burning out" a leader is
greatly decreased, and leaders should stay on for longer periods of
time. Such a system is possible, just look at Silgrad Tower, for a very
long time it was led by Razorwing and Quentin Fortune, and it is what
originally spawned this entire mod community. Dual-Leadership works,
and is effective. I am confident that the future leaders of Skyrim are
mature and skilled enough to effectively lead in such a system.
After looking at the Core Members and observing areas in which they are
skilled in. I have come to the conclusion that should they wish to take
on the responsibility, Psychotic and TOYB will succeed me.
Psychotic can take charge of the Quest Dev, Visual Dev, and Art Dev
Boards. That leaves the claims boards for TOYB to take charge of. The
two-future leaders may decide who gets to be in charge of the Lit Dev
Board and Sound Dev Board. Perhaps they should be Core-Managed?
The power transfer won't take place right away, probably not until the
weekend, because there is a lot I have to get in line and organize to
hand over to my succsesors. For example, the info for the webpage that
we have access to for Skyrim, and a huge compilation of Lore and Ideas
for Skyrim.
Also the team will use the Mainquest I write for Skyrim. I
wish to leave behind that one mark on Skyrim. I spoke with the other
team leaders to see if they thought that was unreasonable or not, and
all agreed that I was entitled to do that. The latter part will be much
less fleshed out than the first part, and will allow for plenty of
creativity to the new team leaders in fleshing it out. Plus you will be
in charge of the portrayal of the details, and of course if there are
technical problems or if some other problem occurs I have no problem
with changes to that.
The decisions for dual-leadership and the use of my Mainquest are final. Please don't argue with me about them.

It's sad to see you go, Sieg. I wish you all the best in future
endeavours at it would be awesome if you still contributed to the
project. You've put a heap of effort into the project and you will be
sorely missed...
I wish Psych and TOYB, if they accept it, luck in taking on leadership of the project.

I'm truly sorry to see you go Sieg, you've done an outstanding job with
this leadership stuff and will be hard to replace. I wish you success
in whatever endeavors you undertake in the future.
I believe I will be able to handle the one half of your job I've been
so kindly offered, and will put as much time and effort as real life
allows me into it. I hope TOYB will accept his new position too because
he is as qualified as he is dedicated to this project.
This team has a core made up of supremely talented people without who
this project would be impossible to manage, I hope they will continue
to help the development of this project for a long long time.
Also I can see no one better then Smokidan for the head of PR and would be very glad if he accepts the position.
Again Sieg, I wish you all the best and I hope that you will be able to visit us every once in a while.

Thnk you, I will gratefully take up the position.
Also could you plz either Email me or PM me things that you have left
halfway completed and such so I may pick them up and continue where you
left off.
Things that I will accomplish in the next few weeks:
Sort out the deal with Windhelm.
Get the Solstheim claim boards up and running.
Sort out the busseiness with the Height map.
Sort out a full website.

Yes you mentioned that you'll fill us in on the details, so it would be
great if you could email me all the stuff that need to be completed as
well.

Sure. Is the resource master that is currently released the most up to date version?

You'll probably have to get the most up-to-date version off Sieg, also so my Edit doesn't go unnoticed,

I
also think that Smokindan should be the Quest Dev along with me, as
Smokindan is are main quest maker and knows his stuff and I am already
incharge of three questlines + I have designed nearly all of the
Haerter's Gap quests. |

If Smokindan is ok with it and Siegfried is ok with it, then I'm ok with it.

I have just PMed Razorwing over the matter of Windhelm. Once I have

I'd love to be our PR man and Quest Dev is fine as well, though some
more people making quests would be great (GB said he can make them but
he wants HG out of the way first.)
I don't think I'll take on the mantle of Riften Mayor as RL and two jobs is probably all I can handle at the moment.

I'm going to take a few quest tutorials once HG is out of the way so you won't be the only one slugging at it

Very sad to see you go Siegfried, you and I are the only two left since the "old age"
. I respect your decision though offcourse, and I hope you stay on the project in the future.
The dual leadership thingy-ma-bob seems a very good solution to me!!!
I have full confidence in TOYB and Psychotic to do the job!!
All luck to you Siegfried, and thankyou for the time you pulled this project along!! You did an awesome job!!

I have to go out of town unexpectedly for memorial day weekend, so this
should be a great oppurtunity for TOYB and Psychotic to get used to
running the team. I'll be back later on Sunday, and I'll try to finish
everything of the power switch wrapped up shortly after that. |

I figure this is as good a place as any to post this, since I didn't
want to create a whole new thread about it. Basically though I'll be on
a bit of a hiatus until November sometime, I'm just too busy with
Sports, School, Student Gov, Clubs, and friends to be able to properly
contribute at the moment-- that and the fact that I've slipped into the
terrible habit of saying I'll do things, starting them, and then never
getting around to finishing them. I just need to step back and take a
break-- I'll still post on occasion, and probably come back more fully
later in the year, and maybe contribute the odd-job on occasion, but
for the most part I won't be doing anything productive. It's probably
best to hand-over my claims and jobs to others if you're trying to get
a fall release of the Rift, so that I don't slow you guys down with not
having my claims done. Also if someone thinks they're up to completing
the Mainquest, I can hand that over to whoever, as I really haven't
done anything worthwile on it. |

Well, as long as you're not permanantly leaving it's not all so glum
lol. Just popping in from time to time is good, your insight is always
valuable!
Just out of interest, what's the status of Liquid Cheese, Sulan, and
TOYB? With you now in a state of semi-Skyrimness, that leaves only
Alasdair, Psychotic, Smokindan and the newly added ME as permanant
contributers as far as I can see. I'm finding myself diversifying a bit
actually though, with this retexturing I'm getting into lol.
Anyways good luck with whatever you're up to from now til whenever!

Hmmm, this is something I've been putting off for too long. I feel its
best that I resign from the Skyrim for Oblivion core. I haven't been
living up to the responsibilities of a core member, frankly I haven't
done anything for Skyrim period in 4 months. I just feel that if I'm
not going to be able to live up to the obligations of the core, its
best if I resign.
This isn't me saying I'm quitting Skyrim or anything, I'll still be
around. I'm in the process of learning to texture right now. I've
completed a recolor of Cheydinhal, and I'll release that in the near
future. Hopefully I'll be able to create some Skyrim specific weapons
soon, or come up with all new textures for the Rift so we don't have to
use those damned Bruma textures anymore. |

That's ok, I hope to see some nice new textures soon.
Have you PM'd Razorwing about this or do you want me to do that?
