It looks kinda ornate if you ask me, not something a typical legion trooper would wear. But the texture is good.

It is supposed to match the shield that I made for the Bear Legion some
time ago, that's why it's so ornate. I can easily make it less ornate
though.

*Use a differnt helm, the current one is clipping.
*The belt buckle looks strange, it needs to have a bit more work on it.
*Change the gauntlets to fur, and give them a retex(For some contrast with the black armour).
*Make that emblem in the middle of the armour(and I think on the elbow guard thing?) a differnt colour, for contrast.
*The shirt thing under the armour. if it is fur needs some more work
done on it and some colour changes, if it is a cotton shirt or
something like that it needs to be a differrnt colour completly(Red or
blue would look good).
*Boots should be a retex of fur.
*The armour it self is auseume and reminds me of ice on tar, very unique, however it looks to damaged, darken the normal map.

Why not use that suit for all legionaires in Skyrim? It looks great,
and I think it would be best to be used for everyone so we don't have
to create unique suits of armor for every legion in Skyrim, plus odds
are that the empire would have their men all where one style of armor
to emphasize unity and avoid confusion. Also maybe give officers some
kind of a tabard or unique helmet (how about that horseman helmet with
the big crest)? |

All the armor pieces on the screenshot (except for the cuirass) are
there only so the guy wouldn't be standing half naked in the snow. The
helm will most likely be different and the belt buckle was just an
experiment, no plans to leave it the way it is.
I don't think some of the color changes you suggested would look good,
so I think that will remain unchanged for the most part. The shirt is
cotton (I might try fur), but the color is actually perfect for cotton
as anything else would just mean the shirt was dipped in color during
its manufacture.
I will probably use the fur boots and gauntlets as you suggested, but I might put some metal plates on them.
As for the cuirass looking too damaged, it's because of the color and
ornate combination (if I soften the _n map the ornate will look like
paint). I don't know how much I can do for that, but I'll mess around a
bit more and see what happens.
Siegfried: The Bear Legion might be considered as an elite legion, hence the custom Nordic styled armor.

I see what you're saying, but I still think it would be a bit cooler if
all Skyrim legionaires wore the armor, like all Morrowind Legionaires
had the cool black Roman-esque armor. |

I think that is WAY too fancy for every legionnaire to wear. Only the higher ranked officers should wear it.

I can make a less ornate version for the ordinary legionnaire.

I like it a lot, however I would imagine any armour associated to a
bear legion would be more furry, big tufts of fur mixed with a silver
curraiss or something. |

Silver might be a bit to expensive, but I agree that it could have a
bit more fur. The problem with fur is that I can't add any more fur to
the current model just by changing the texture, I would need a
different model in order to make the fur look like actual fur and not
like armor paint.

Nice work, Psych!
I agree with Khornate; that it should probably only be for officers or high-ranking peoples.

Those capes suck, really bad. They stick way out and they look so fake.
I would like to see a havoked cape, it would be the first object of
clothes to have havok, and it would look so much more realistic.

A shot of the Bear Legion Cuirass (officers edition) in NifScope.
Unfortunately I can't get the parts I merged trough NifScope to show up in the CS... I'll figure it out though.

I got the cuirass to work in the CS (which probably means it will work fine in-game).
I might adjust the specular map slightly, but other then that the cuirass is pretty much finished.
The other parts of the armor are pretty easy since all I got to do is
make the textures... so I'll probably have this done soon.
Psychotic has attached this image (downsized version):
TESConstructionSet 2007-01-02 18-38-42-58.jpg (101 KB)
Edit 2007.01.02 23:32: All done!
The only piece missing is the helmet, I'll add that a bit later.
The contrast with the white fur might be a bit much... I dunno.

Looks good, the white fur is nice as well.
It makes sense in a few ways anyway. White fur is found on some animals
in Skyrim and having multiple colors also breaks up a soldier's image. |

Looks great me thinks!!!
I also like the white fur, very nice touch.
hmm... something bear-ish would be nice indeed, but just because
they?re named bear legion does?nt mean there has to be bears all over
me thinks though...
Will there be a visible emblem on the armour/shield/something, and how does it look?
The patterns on the cuiress: Is it painted on the metal or is the metal shaped that way?
Keep up the good work!!!
ps. Oh and I agree with someones comment about those capes looking,
well not so good. I tryed the mod, but it does?nt look right I think...

There is an emblem on the shield, it's a bear paw.
I wanted to put it in the middle of the cuirass as well, but I couldn't
because of the way the cuirass is UV mapped (the texture is just
mirrored from one side to the other along the central vertical axis of
the mesh).
The decorative patterns are engraved into the metal, but it's not very obvious in a screenshot because of the static lighting.
Yeah I agree, the capes do look like c***, but the modding community is
a long way off from havocked (flowing) capes as it's currently
impossible to attach havoc enabled meshes to the players skeleton.

I really like the texture wor! How did you do it? Did you use photo
reference or did you paint it? If you painted it, can you give a little
tutorial, I'm always bad at texturing, and your awsome, wanna learn
from a master.

Thanks for the compliments!
Did I paint it? Hehe, everyone asks me that.
No, I used photo references. I do draw some of my Celtic patterns on
paper, scan them, and fix them up in Photoshop... but not for this one.
