The thing is the ice plate reminds me of a braw.
I mean I know I'm crazy, but it still reminds me of a braw. See how it
looks with two ice plates, as you said, it may look alright.

trying a couple things out, I think I can make us both happy.
I dropped the ice to cover all of the lower section, but left the piece
in the V line of the neck metal. I now looks as if the bit at the neck
is part of the plate around the abdomimal. Its coooooolllllll .....But
doesn't leave much metal for you to play with
Greeves&boots then....

Yes.
helmet: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c85/lego-botz/icehelmettexture2.gif
cuirass: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c85/lego-botz/icecuirasstexture3.gif
greeves: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c85/lego-botz/icegreevetex.gif
boots: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c85/lego-botz/iceboottex.gif
Its a little rough around the edges in the texturing department. I'll
fix it up a bit and tweek the UVs in a couple places that aren't right.
I think I'll have a cup of tea now

Lookin good Ghogiel! I wish you luck with rigging everything since I
know what it takes to get rigs working. I'm working on finishing up the
ruby set for Elsweyr right now (just have the cuirass left to rig and I
know its gonna be tons of work). I'f you run into problems while
rigging I'd be glad to offer advice where I can.

it gets the seal of approva thenl?
I'll go PC shopping next week.
with tes4 running on this thing, it'll be convient enough to really
start messing with the skin modifier and being able to test if my
weight painting is fubar'ed.

Great Work
However I do think it could do with abit more transparency in places.

I was thinking that myself. also a very slight amount of glow mapping
on te ice too.....you know...just so you know its magic
Boots are ingame and deforms pretty decent.
my atemp at rigging the cuirass however.....failed. It looked fine in
nifscope but fubared ingame. the game didn't crash so I suppose thats
good. I didn't exspect it to work any how. It may be down to a bone
issue I'm missing. Will redo from scratch now I have the basic jist of
what bone does what.

Looks really sweet!!!
I've never liked the idea of ice armor and weapons, but of course they
should be in the game to be true to TES and these look great!!! Very
professional!
I like how its blended with the chainmail!
I agree with toyb though that the ice texture might need some more
transparency. I think also perhaps that it could be alittle more
greyish with sparkles of lightblue? I think it looks alittle too blue
atm, but that's just me...
In any case, keep up the good work!!! You're possitively awesome!!!

Hmmmmm..i like the idea of kinda sparkle effect. Maybe someone can get a bit creative with glow map.
I have the cuirass in game. rigging is a isn't terrible. but the elbows
and pauldrons need a fair amount of fixorating. aswell as a vert that
is probably weighed to some random bone on another part of the mesh.
phew.
least it went in. and will probably look pretty good in the end. And
boy have I learnt a few things about making a model that will be easy
to rig. it hurts my brain.

It's great that you've got it all rigged now, but I think the normal
maps need some more work at the moment the "ice" doesn't really look
like ice.

greeves are rigged. need a slight adjustment to the groin and a tiny
bit of thigh. might tweek the knees too. essentially its there.
I just found a nice trick in rigging. bend the bone alittle and weigh
frome there...you get to see the mesh move around as you weigh verts. I
haven't foun out ho to make the skeleton go back to its original
position....so what I have done was save a copy of the verts
weights(envelopes) and reload the max scene to before you moved a bone,
then just load up the envelope and your weights will be updated but
with on a skeleton that hasn't bee moved.....I did try to write down
the x y z of the bone then move it..weigh in that position then put it
back in the xyz of its original position....but weighing seems to
change the zxy....so when I put the numbers in it ain't where it should
be. atleast I have a way of doing that.

Maybe just a design of a snow flake on it, but the actual shield as a snowflake is a bit far fetched.

no not really.
the snow flake is essentially a hexagon. A hexagon will make a good
shield shape. It'll look good, be unique, and will be functional in
shape.
I dunno what you are going on about anyway...the armor is make outa magical ice.. thats pretty far fetched to me.

Maybe just make it a simple hexagon, the current shield looks nice but it reminds me too much of Christmas.

Anywho thingy boo.
I made gnd nifs. the colision is stock stuff. It isn't all that bad
though. I think it passes. tis annoying not being able to export
collision. I spend another couple hours not getting it to work. I dunno
why either.
I guess I'll go grab some screens. seeing I have to go test it all and
the bonemold in game now......Be back in 20mins with screens.
I guess its done now, well sorta. texturing isn't the best. *reminds
self to put "IS NOT A TEXTURER" in sig* and the arms could do with a
better rig job. Which is a simple update when I have an hour or 2 spare
on it. And gaunlets..need gauntlets.
EDIT:
I totally screwed up the cuirass! oops. I was splitting the mesh last I
messed with it. and never tested it till now.Well I know what not to do
. I'll just use the previous nif before I started splitting it and get it right this time.
the gnd nifs work nicely though, http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c85/lego-botz/icegnd.gif |
That's good/bad to hear.
Ah well, once you fix it I'll mess with the textures a bit as promised.
