O.K. it seems you have limited knowledge about the lanscape editor so I will help you.
Use shift to move the camera around.
In the landscape editor there is the flaten and the soften function,
use the flaten function to get the same level in the entire cell then
raise bumps and use the the soften function to smooth out the bumps.
When this is done you can place buildngs work on landscape some more,
once that is done start to texture the ground (only use jeral and bruma
ground textures, it should have it somewhere in the name). After that
come vertex shading, but for the moment don't worry as that can be very
fiddley and you don't need to worry about it until it is in the main
world space.

I managed to figure most of what you said out, how about the floating
mass thing though? Does it matter that the entire cell isn't raised? |

I just explained, use the flaten tool. Right click on the blob the
nwhile holding it down move your curser aound the cell, it should level
the entirty to that set height.

I knew how to do it, I was just asking if it mattered. Never mind.
I've been using those tutorials since I started, but thanks for the help anyway.

Yup, I did like a first layout of everything, but it all crashed when I
was experimenting with ground texturing. I hadn't saved in a while. No
worries though, I learnt a lot and I had only placed buildings. I like
the dragon, however the texure was a bit of a bad choice, it looks like
it is made up of twisted planks of wood. |

I'll do some more screenshots when I get back to dad's house, however
it was only like 3 days since I last updated. No need to be so hastey. |

I have almost no free time to do this kinda stuff now I'm in sixth form
(kinda like college), and the time I do have I usually to tired to want
to do anything constructive but I've got free time tomorrow so I'll do
a big chunk then. There isn't any rush is there? Nothing will happen to
it once until the heightmap is ready anyway, will it? |

Actually quests can be implemented, interiors can be fully made and play testing can be made.

No, it doesn't mater since the town will be eventually moved onto the heightmap.

The ground texture is irrelevant, it goes on the heightmap. The snow is just to give an impression of what it WILL be like

The rift isn't snowy at all really, except for mountains and other places with a high enough elevation.

I thought I was supposed to be using the snowy bruma stuff, and I think
TOYB told me it was up in the mountains somewhere along the line, so
that would explain the snow. |

I'm still working on this btw. I just had a erm massive break. Anyway
I've made a lot of progress this morning but I'd like to know how to
create dead creatures, as this place is going to have a lot of hunters.
My plans are to create a sense that Dragonwood is almost entirely self
sufficient. It is miles away from anyone else so it makes sense. I'll
post some more screenshots soon. |

For dead creatures just place a creature (like a deer) wherever and set its health to 0.

Can't wait to see the screens. Maybe you should give it a palisade wall when its added into the resource file?

One thing about the vege patch is the wheat...in the snow...lol
Maybe replace it with hardy nordic vegetables that grow underground. Potatoes, carrots, leeks, raddishes etc
I don't know if it's on the heightmap or not, but if it is then you
also might want to put vertex shading around the bases of large objects
(trees, houses, crates, barrels etc).

Hehe I figured someone would mention that, I had filled up the rest of
the veg patch with said vegtables, and had a massive gap left. But I'll
just put in some more carrots or something. |

How many potato plants is that in total? Looks to be only 4-5 from that
pic. You should put some more in...more 'tatoes...more I say! I think I
mentioned awhile ago, but check the Water's Edge settlement for a good
vege patch layout example.
Were you doing interiors and NPCs and AI as well or was that all going up for claims??
