I thought its best to make a thread to consolidate all the misc stuff my work generates in sted of having bits in varios threads.

shield variation A. stock mesh (chainmail shield). mesh needs testing for spec and gloss settings. 5 retex variations. examples:

Ed.Rw 090219: The images were permanently lost.

(note texture has been reworked since these pics)



shield variation B. modified tes4 stock mesh and new textures. primary use is to adorn the longboat. relz as a modders resource for Skyrim. they may look good as a fire place mount ect. Mesh needs testing for specular and gloss settings.


As soon as I learn how to make a custom collision mesh, the kite shield will be done.



Ornate claymore.


Any misc objects that need doing hit me with them.

What about your nordic armours, and that bear helmet you where working on?

Also if you have time, some Nordic stuff like carving tools and half carved logs would be nice. Also some Nordic Chocolate (the form of which is undecided) would be nice, along with some new bottles and any variations on stock OB stuff with a nordic twist would be nice.

Will not make any new armor....right now. Ihave enough just waiting for me to figure out how the hell to export right :/

Been having problems with trying to set up and export a rigged model from 3ds. I think I'm gonna get it right at some pont. but as of yet it doesn't replace a stock mesh in nifscope when the paste the branch in. I'm totally in the dark as to wether its the postion of the mesh when I export it or if its rigged right or some export crazyness. ect. I haven't read or seen a tutorial for doing anything like this in max. so its lots of trial and all error so far. Matbe next sitting I'll get that blasted ice helm working. It can't be that hard. it only needs one bone! as soon as that one model goes in though.... :D

I need to re Uv the bear helm. It was a biatch to do in the first place(4 atempts lol) and its the hardest thing I have tried to tex so far. So I don't want to touch it. It'll just eat up lots of time and annoy me. I'll go back to it when my skills level up or I find some high rez pics of a bears face to cut up for textures.

a viking bow saw it is then :)

is there a simple hand axe out there, like the norse or vikings would have used?

a carved chest too perhaps?

misc objects #1


Still to come is the drinking horn, the pile of rope, mounted antlers, and the oar. Oar needs texturing,(pfft easy one the :) and the rope needs a UV and texture. drinking horn will be modeled next. antlers are last. :)

and the other set of shield pics for good measure.

Yes, I did get the shields (and claymore) via PM, but I've got a bad cold so I'm unable to spend too much time in front of my comp. I'll check what needs tweaking as soon as I can.

Do you need the tweaked textures/meshes back after they are done or can they just be included directly in the next master?

the drinking/ornate horn


I was thinking its probably possible to put a strap on it and rig it like an item of clothing and have it take the amulet slot. its a bit of work and it'll probably have clipping issues with more than a few armors. It all depend how I would do it. I think it would work best rigged so that it doesn't clip with most itemes of clothing. and just hope most armors won't be too bad with it.

hmmmm. I'll leave it alone for now.

I don't think you should rig it as a piece of clothing as it would cause to much clipping, both with our new models and Beths stock models.

You can rig it if you like, but if you find it to be too much work for something that might not work well you can just leave it as a normal item.

Its a tad tooo plain, trouble wih working from historically accurate images. they tent to be purely functional with no frills around the edge.

I think a subtle bit of runes inscribing thrown on there won't hurt. I might spell out my name on it :)

Some runic paterns or some celtic knots would make it look quite nice, but what you already have could be used as a LC.

Yep, looks good. Yes For MC and UC just use a darker wood texture and slap on some Celtic knots as lining for the edges (the knots should probably only go on the UC chest).

Am I the only one who feels the shields need some sort of transistion from the central part (the part with the art on it) to the outer rim?

actually....you are kinda right. sort of.

If I were making the models I would have put geometry at thta transition point.
But its basicly the sock chainmail shield from Ob. Aslo the _n map does go a bit further when they are in gmae to remedy that.

I probably could have just made a mesh fo them myself given all the tim and effort I spent texturizing, iconerizing, nifferizing and packerizing them all.

one Question Ghogiel... have you release this shields in any form? after release could I use some of the meshes in my mod? you might have seen it already in TES official forums..Shields of the Antiquity... I see that you beated me to it in some of these shields... I was plaaning on adding the one with 3 oragne dogs over red background to my mod...no problem..its just one=)

I case you didn't get my PM. Ask psychotic, as he has distribution rights.

I just did the textures. the model is a stock Bethesda mesh or a slightly modified Beth mesh. So that means they can only be used with Ob. ect

on a side note....I think I can remember how to modify the nifs so that they are static- change the collision/havok properties so that you can hang them on a wall for decoration.

Let me know- I'll quickly mod a few if need be. I have to do them all anyway. The long ship will have to have them like so.

you see...im still a bit of a noob... I can reskin a bit, and make a few things with the CS, and planning on learning how to model in the future...but right now I can't... I guess that all you made was Re-UVmap the round shiedls right? thats something I don't know yet...and that would open quite a few possibilities to the developmento of more shields... as for meshs I can't do it yet, but I was planing on initiating my modeling carreer by making some kite shields... if and when I make the models could you teach me later how to put them ingame?

No I don't. :) You have the distribution rights over anything you make even if it is only a modified version of a stock OB mesh or whatever. Yes ...so it's up to you.

Also I though that models lose their havoc properties if they are added as static meshes in the CS? Though it's quite possible that I'm wrong or just misunderstood you, so if you do have to change some of the properties of the shield models to make static versions feel free to make one of every shield as they will be excellent decorations.

Edit: Btw, have you made any progress on rigging the ice armor?

Gervas ask psychotic for that shield you want. Or rather Psychoticsend him that shield or whatever.

You have to change the havok properties in via nifscope on the shields if you don't want them to act like the regular shield nifs do. Statics can be havoked :)

It's easy actually

I also read you can set the mass to 0.

Edit: Ice armor has been rigged for ages. I have leveled up a hell of a lot recntly though. especially in rigging and UV mapping :) . and general armor trouble shooting and what not. So I would never make that armor the same if I did it all over again. :) But yeah- cuirass needs a bit of a revamp. and a better rig to the forearm/twist bones I think. Haven't messed with it for a little while now.

It needs some texturing details too. and I would like to do some gauntlets for it. I'm no longer afraid of all those finger bones any more.

thought I'd post up this. get some crits or whatever. I know how yall like to look at new models anyhow. :) its a more historically accurate model. not exactly. the helmet is a direct copy from some pictures....though I think the design isn't based on a historic piece, I liked it anyhow. The pigface bascinet or hounskull is my fav, and I was waiting for a good set of piccys and a design of it that took my fancy.

I may be going over board on the second shot there, with the gold trim. I kinda like it simple. with some boarders and a small design here and there. It's ebony btw....I like ebony me :)

Wow that armour is awesome!!! Good job!
The cuiress is amazing and the helmet is very cool also I thinks!!
I very much like the rather "clean" design of the cuiress Yes
I think the armour has a knightly look to it somehow, especially with the helmet. Perhaps it could be the armour of one of the knight orders in Skyrim?

We do like looking at models indeed :D Especially when they are as awesome as this!!!

Its something I made for my character. Being a Breton Thelemite =) . Kinda a battlemage type, sorta. With a slightly troubling fascination with summoning daedra and necromancy. But is not evil. Possibly chaotic good/neutral. High Rock.....yes....deffo High Rock.

While trying to be reasonably authentic looking and with the idea of a knighty order in mind. I never liked the crusader look. I always liked the 14th-16th century plate look better :) Its a nice look imo.

So I guess I should finnish it off then :)

I always forget I hate texturing...then I all of a sudden I'm sitting there looking at PS....agian.....

K......thanks to Alasdair I have just noticed that when I saved like all of those icons.....for like everything....the transparency I set in the alpha layer....well reset its self some how. Odd that, seeing the more recent batches are fine, and they are coming outa the same psd and everything....its not a biggy just a pain.

So I guess I'll go open each one and add change the alpha layer..at some point. It does need to be done. I intended transparent icons and thats that.

had to try something different. You know improve your skill type model. It looks accurate enough, I have no idea how accurate, But its working. :)

oh yeah....this has nothing in common with TES let alone Skyrim Tongue

Actually someone from the ES community already made a full set of Storm Trooper armor for a Star Wars TC, but I don't think it was ever released.

Yeah, there were lots of pictures. There were also some SW house models, Tatooine houses I think.

The thing died a long time ago (big surprise there Tongue ), but there is a slight chance that you can find an old thread or something if you search.

that rise of remenants isn't the right one. That one is some noob TC.

I made that about 3400k polys. passable. The face is kinda mine, But I used part of the guys mesh and modeled the rest in lower poly. I think its cool to use and edit if I just credit it. but I don't feel comfortable unless I here directly from the dude. shouldn't be a problem I don't think. It looks cool lol. I post ingame shots later.
