Tutorials |

I think it would be good idea for everyone to make tutorials in their
respective fields, explaining how to do things such as lighting in a
cell, writing a book, etc.

*If you saying that's a Tutorial, it's not.
*If you saying your working on that instead of making a tutorial, well
you haven't spent much time on it and you said you needed a break from
it anyway.

I was wondering if that should be made a tutorial
And I did spend a lot of work on it, thats why I'm having this break
(all that code). So do I need to make a scripting tutorial? Or a
dungeon (in which I'm not good at all)

A scripting tutorial would be good, prehaps you could make a quest
tutorial or a tutorial that introduces someone to the scripting
language (like where to put end and endif and how many to put and why,
etc).

Either a Landscaping tutorial, a lighting tutorial, a guide to cave
making or something similar. Or I might do a simple guide to what looks
like hard Nifscope work...

They already have a good cave making tut on the wiki, I think the most usefull would be a landscaping/nifskope tut.

Better take the landscape tut as there is a lot more that you might not know about NifScope, mainly modeling related stuff.
I'll do a texturing tut, maybe a few Photoshop tips and tricks specific to making textures for a game like Oblivion.

Why don't you take a look at the snow bear cuirass then? The problem
with it is that one of the merged NiNodes causes the mesh to disappear
in the CS or in-game.

I?m gonna make a tutorial on how to sit on your butt and yet remain in the core
j/k I do spend a lot of time with the music stuff...
I?ve written a small guide on the basics of getting acceptable voice
recordings with simple gear, it counts as a tutorial I think.
It?s in some thread related to the hearters gap voice stuff...

... and it was excellent!
I just hope it didn't get lost or deleted.

Oh thank you very much!! I hope it helped, if it got lost I can wright a new one
I think tutorials can serve as a kind of "quality ensurance" and
"consistensy ensurance" for the mod as well, as they outline what is
the standard so to speak...
For example, when I wrote the voice recording basics, I did so partly
because many people seam to think that recording is just plugging in
the mic and pressing the big red round button. While if reading the
tutorial it gets obvious that there is a lot more to it and a lot more
is expected as it scrapes the surface of the finer arts of good audio,
thus it automatically sets a quality standard in a way I think, without
being a too harsh absolute thingydoodle... kind of like, stuff ... sort
of you know...

I did one on buyable houses. I can't be bothered linking it but it's over in the FAQ/ Tutorial forums.
I can understand why we may need some tutorials too but the CSWiki is also a perfectly good source of info.

Well I guess the tuts we make should be on more specific things rather then general guides.

Also we need to make ones more relevant to what we are doing.

I'll write up a lit dev one in the next few days. Sorry to have
vanished off the face of the earth for a few days, my bf thought it
would be a good idea to pack up my computer without telling me while I
was in the shower last sunday

Someone lore-minded should write one to help people making skyrim
house. General customery nord things. Favourite foods, drinks.
Favourite weapons etc. For people who like to mod but don't really know
much lore.
Someone should also summarise skyrim lore for people who know no skyrim
lore. Just generally what the landscape is like, a little about Gods
and the general attitudes and history of the Nords. |
