I am very impressed, and I look forward to building the stats for the
armor. I also look forward to seeing your upcoming axe... maybe your
interested in making a line of Orcish weapons too?

Sweet, can't wait to see the screens! Will this be a single or two-handed axe?

It's a single, but I'm making a weapon set or two. It's done:

The detail on the blade is excellent. Can you upload the armor pieces you have done so far?

Thanks for the upload, will download and test ingame now.
Edit 2008.07.15 19:20:
Alright, sorry for the slow reply, was pretty busy yesterday.
I looked at the armor, and its excellent aside from a few technical things:
-Because the helm is closed, it will need an egm file generated to go
with it, otherwise with beast races, or characters with prominent
noses/chins the face will clip through the helmet. The alternative (and
easier) solution to this is to make the helmet replace the hair and
head mesh, and then put a plain black surface behind the eyes ala
Morrowind Armors.
-In the first person, when power attacking, there is no upper arm mesh
for the cuirass and so the player can see through their own arms (the
forearm is there though). I would guess this can be easily fixed by
playing around in nifskope. Unfortunately I don't know how though.
-This may not be your fault because I use a male body replacer, but I
noticed that the rear of my neck did not connect with the spangbrynja
and floated an inch or two above it. If you could take a look ingame
(make sure you don't test on a character with shoulder length hair) and
see if its the spangbrynja, if not its just my own problem for using a
body mod.
The only other thing I could suggest to improve it would be to add a
little bit of vertex painting around places like the armpits and other
locations that would be naturally dark. |

The conformulator
can be used to generate EGM files for helms. I noticed the neck thing
too, so it's not your body mod that's causing it. Other than those
issues it does look really superb. |

Check out the names of the NiTriShapes in NifSkope. If they're called
UpperBody (or any variant of it) they will not be rendered in first
person mode. |

That's fine, there's no real rush with this bit. For the most part we
will be using it on NPCs, so the first person mode isn't that much of a
concern. |

You're right. I'll upload the file tomorrow along with the new chainmail hauberk I'm finishing off.
Edit 2008.07.23 03:56
I hit a snag with the chainmail... I over-complicated it, but it's all for the better I guess.
Edit 2008.07.23 23:11
I would like to make some building models and evan a city. The last
time I was in Norway I took a few pictures of buildings from where my
family lives and also stave churches and it seems it would be far
easier than all this armor shit. Of corse I will finish of the armors,
of which there will be four types of which the hringabrynja and
spangabrynja are done. The other two types will be leather and fur. So
tell me if that's ok, and what I should do. |

New buildings would be useful, but they are rather time consuming since
they are usually quite large models. They would certainly be easier
then armour, although weapons are quite quick and easy to do. |

things are taking longer than I had hoped iv been busy with biz stuff.
Well I changed the chainmail texture to a rivited ring so I'm updating
the spanagbrynja and the new armor with it hopefully it will be done by
the end of the week.
I'll post it when its done.

Yo guy's, my computer crapped out on me, and it has been down for a
week, I was kind of hoping that you hadn't released the armor just yet
so I could get one of the first real looks at it, good thing it isn't
out. I look forward to seeing this done, we'll see if I can get the
motivation to learn quest building and the such, I've had such bad luck
with this computer lately I'm getting depressed. Oh well, repairs were
free, and I got new memory and a much better sound card with it, maybe
it WAS better in the end, hope to see this armor soon. Best of luck

Ok -here-
is the requested fix for the spangabrynja and with the images you will
see it has been retextured with a better chainmail texture. You can now
see what is under the mail - the shading on the cloth and notice also
that the chainmail is rivited. Basically it's better quality mail.
The helm will be next on the list followed by the hringabrynja then I'm
going to improve on the axe, make a helm for the hringabrynja and
finish the weapon set.

Seriously I would absoloutley love to be wearing this armour, its so
good. I have begged on the forums for realistic viking armour and there
is the answer, to have that ingame would be perfect

iv been busy but I have updated the armour.... I sized down the texture
file to 1024x1024 and over all incressed the visual quaility.
I also added some vertex shading and in my opinion it looks much better.
look closly at the chainmail links.
I will post the file in the next few days along with any other
unfinished projects I was working on as I will no longer be moding.
