RISE OF THE PRECURSOR
A large-scale terrain and quest modification of
Bethesda Softworks? ?The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?
Written by Edgefilm
Based on the province of Valenwood and an idea by Maggon
All unique elements are WGAw Registered
?...there are signs of other forces stirring. The Wild Hunt has been
sighted for the first time in over five hundred years, although to what
purpose is not yet clear. Falinesti, the ?walking city? of trees, has
rooted itself for the first time in recorded history. A new Bosmer
prophet has arisen, known only as the Precursor, who preaches that the
old forest god Y?ffre is returning with new gifts for his favored
people. Whether these are isolated events, or signs of some great
change in Valenwood, remains to be seen.?
-?A Pocket Guide to the Empire and its Environs?
The ?Rise of the Precursor? will attempt to create the sprawling
landscape of the home to the Bosmer within the Oblivion Engine. Through
this world, we will tell an epic story woven into the lore of the land,
that our hero (whoever you may be) will become completely entangled in.
A tender diplomatic situation has arisen between Cyrodiil and
Valenwood, requiring the most delicate of touches. Chancellor Ocato has
chosen you, of all Cyrodiil, to act as their ambassador, and represent
the council of elders in this matter. The matter, concerns an
individual known as the Precursor, a prophet who speaks of the return
of Y?ffre and is causing quite a stir among the population. Some
follow, some are skeptical, and others claim heresy. No matter the
view, the situation is extremely fragile. Certain officials in
Valenwood have asked for assistance from several of the surrounding
nations. Cyrodiil has answered the call.
It will become readily apparent that the situation in Valenwood is
worse than anyone would like to admit. Fear is running rampant through
the land from the recent events and strange reports of vicious attacks
have been working their way through the local gossip circles. The last
thing the population wants is an outlander sticking his or her nose
into the sacred affairs of the Bosmer people.
The governors of the Valenwood citadels have come together for the
first time in over 20 years as Valenwood?s stability crumbles even
further. They fear that the weight of these simultaneous events will
soon be too much for the shoulders of the great Valenwood forest to
bear. They have come to a decision that you must take on the task of
bodyguard for this so-called prophet. You are to keep the Precursor
from harm at all costs. You are to remain at the Precursor?s side and
be prepared for anything. One of the councilors takes you aside and
asks you to report the Precursor?s actions only to him, and to take an
amulet that will allow you to charm the prophet into being candid with
you.
They tell you where the prophet was last seen, but also say that their
other agents have stopped reporting in recently. They worry something
might happened to them. You will travel deep into Valenwood to find
this person. You will see sights that not even your dreams could
manifest. You will fight strange new creatures and explore the darkest
depths of the land. You will meet new and as-of-yet undiscovered races
and you will wrestle with a nightmarish conspiracy that reaches back to
the very origins of mer and men.
None of this, however, will prepare you for what the Precursor will
show you. The time of Y?ffre is nigh, and all manner of creature will
bow before its majesty...
This is just little of what is going to happen in this Valenwood project also known as the "Rise of the Precursor"

Just wish I could remember the name of the 'books'. Can't remember much
more about it than that a tide of living death was unleashed from
within that shrine...
Thing is that there was a Daedric Prince in Blodmoon with an entirely
different representation of 'the wild hunt'? So there needs to be some
serious thinking here.
Would it be stretching things too far to suggest that the same Daedra
has 'wild hunts' in different parts of Nirn using different beasties as
appropriate, and the rituals differ too?

there is the Wild Hunt of the Bosmer and the Hircine's Hunt
every era, Hircine and a large number of were-creatures will emerge and ravage a land
Wild Hunt is an ability of the Bosmer to tunr into monsters, but the cannot turn back.... last resort... and they go insane

ty Siegfried and yes, read a Dance in the Fire for many many insights
into the Bosmer. Maybe KK is correct in his interpretation of the Wild
Hunt, or maybe it works a different way to that we have both imagined?
But I think that 'Dance' is a great Starting Point for Lore in
Valenwood, which should go far deeper than a mere Imperial's view
eventually.
