One thing I have noticed other projects talking about is factions. Now
from what I can gather from the Pocket Guide is that there are tribes
in Valenwood. Unless of course that was in older times. But if there
are currently tribes then how are we gonna incorperate this and how
will we tell them about?

There are the big tribes each tribe represents each big city and smaller tribes throught out the Huge Forest.
For guilds we could have
Fighters Guild
Mages Guild
Some criminal organization no thieves guild
Tribes
Purists they can be like druids raising treants to fight for them and
kill all who try to defile the lands. they live in caves wear fur for
clothes.
Khajjit Timberjacks? lol
Maybe a Ranger Guild
Dark BrotherHood
The Religion faction
Mainquest

I think that there should be tribes that function like the great house
did in MW. Also I want a guild centered around finding lost rings
seriously though we should have some quest like "The Origin of Fargoth" or at least just a lost ring mission.

I would't say taht afighters guild fits that good into Valenwood, I
would suggest something more like; The Rangers guild. Would't that be
more properly to find in valenwood han a fighters guild ?
And about Fargoth, oh my
I actully think I killed him in Morrowind :s, but.. Hmm.. we could make Fargoth have moved back to Valenwood though ?

We're using Fargoth in Vvardenfell. It would be interesting though if
you developed a good backstory in dialogue for his ring. |

Would be sweet if we could get a script that checks if you have
Valenwood and Morrowind on your computer, then if you do some quest
starts where you have to get Fargoth's ring because its the key to some
hidden treasure. Maybe make one of Fargoth's relatives, it could be a
vampire named "Thegoth"
but I do think we should have some kind of reference to Fargoth, don't
actually have him in it, but a kind of wink wink nod nod. |

Neargoth, cousin of Fargoth... and archnemesis
.... just kidding
I think a sort of Ranger Guild would be cool as stated before....
maybe its more like a foresters guild, tame animals, defend borders, hunt dangerous beasts
a sort of anti-khajit faction might work
what about political factions? Bosmer Tribes, Altmer, Imperial city, Bosmer city...
maybe union sof tribes, maybe the Altmer dominion, maybe certain
political factions for each major Bosmer city like Silvenar and

If we're gonna do a Ranger's guild, we need to make there missions
really unique, not just like shoot this angry bear with a bow. To be
honest I don't have to many ideas. |

What if Bosomer are socialist. It fits with the whole symbiosis thing
and would be different from the rest of Tamriel where everything seems
very authoritarian and rigid in hierarchy. |

OK. It's just that there is feudalism in Cyrodiil, feudalism in Skyrim,
House Rule in Morrowind, Tribalism in the Ashlands and Black Marsh,
probably some kind of council in High Rock... There needs to be
something different somewhere just for variety so that the player
doesn't keep getting drafted into governments that are nearly identical.
So even if Valenwood is tribal, there needs to be something about that tribalism that makes it feel distinctive.

definitely... I mean running after one another in the woods must have an effect on the society...
from the social ranks to the way love is had, to the way arguements are settled...

Freer than most societies aye? Sounds like Streakers Guild time
. Maybe division of power? Tribal system holds one third, religious
officials hold another, and elected officials hold the last? Would be
unique and original, and the player could choose who to side with like
Great Houses. |

You mean a lot more complex ? - Would't that be REALLY hard to make. I
mean, if they have to be extremely complex, though also making them
more complex would't be kinda impossible, I mean, the options on how
complex a mission can be is kinda limited of what the games has to
offer, like there is now ccrafting system , though that could be
created, and well you cant really tame animals unless you are a Bosmer,
and thats only temporary anyaway, usally you have to kill something or
retrieve something in Oblivion right ? - So, wont it become kinda
really hrd to make:/? |

I guess there could be extrememly long quests that involve stalking
people and gather certain resources for the guild... Also rangers in
other books I have read were good fighters so I'm guessing you could go
in with a small strike team to take out a rather large bosmer raiding
party near the border.... Two or three against 15 type odds.... And I
also assume we would have to make special armor for rangers since they
are not the normal type of fighter (Kinda like Blackwood company has a
special armor)....
It would be hard but we jsut gotta put people to work on building the guild and making the quests....

I never said anything about making the quests really complex, I said
make them unique. We should try things for this guild that are
original, given only 50% have to be unique, make the other half more
traditional. On the topic of animals though taming has tremendous
potential, we could come up with some kind of scripted spell effect,
that when cast applies an animal companion script to the target. Then
advancement in the guild you would have to have your pet meet certain
standards to go onward. |

There were pet scripts in Morrowind, and there were companion scripts
in Morrowind. There are companion scripts in Oblivion, pet scripts
should just be taking a companion script and tweaking references,
dialogue, ect to be animal compatible. |

As I recall, the scripting should't be far from Morrowind's CS, so maybe we are able to use the same script ?

I'm no scripting expert so I can't be sure, but we should be able to
use the "heart" of the script, but I'm sure we will have to make
adaptations to it. Also I believe that most of the scripts used
Tribunal function like companionshare- things that are absent from OB. |

Valenwood has a KING. There was a long series of books (either in
Morrowind or Daggerfall) about an Imperial Factor who loses his job and
then tries to fulfill the contract anyway by stealing the papers
required for the contracts from his former employees. The same story
tells of serious skirmishing with the Khajiit and a horror unleashed
from a shrine on the invaders by the Bosmer.
Dam, wish I could find the books, but I think that is current Lore. Do
try to find those books as they are an important contribution to
existing Valenwod Lore. You will find it helps you enormously to build
up a picture of the detail and qualities of Bosmer society and their
environment.
Try the ES links - the Imperial Library (or somesuch) should give you
access without having to load up Daggerfall or Morrowind itself if you
have finished playing them.
