"He's
the representative of the People, legally, physically, and
emotionally," explained Jurus, a little annoyed at his new partner's
lack of common knowledge. "When they're healthy, so is he. When they're
mostly female, so is he. When they cry for food or trade or an absence
of foreign interference, he feels it too, and makes laws accordingly.
In a way, he's a despot, but he's the people's despot." |
quote: |
Scotti
maintained his benevolent indifference, but he found that dealing with
the Silvenar was not quite the same as dealing with a simple, sullen
child. The Voice of the People knew certain practical, everyday things
very well: the yields of fish, the benefits of trade, the condition of
every township and forest in his province. |
quote: |
"Anything about the Silvenar that surprised you?" asked Jurus.
"I hadn't expected him to be half my height."
"Was he?" Jurus looked mildly surprised. "He must have shrunk since I
tried to have an audience with him earlier. Maybe there is something to
all that nonsense about him being affected by the plight of his people." |
Now how will he look??

It seems to me like there is some turnoil regarding leadership in
valenwood, I admit I do not know a great deal of valenwood lore, but it
would be a good way to show the player what is becoming of the
province.

"Perhaps
it is," shrugged Basth. "But he has many rights as the Voice of the
People, including the granting of foreign building and trade contracts.
It's not important whether you believe us. Just think of the Silvenar
as being like one of your mad Emperors, like Pelagius. The problem
facing us now is that since Valenwood is being attacked on all sides,
the Silvenar's aspect is now one of distrust and fear of foreigners.
The one hope of his people, and thus of the Silvenar himself, is that
the Emperor will intervene and stop the war." |
A little more...

Hmmm what about a voice behind a curtain(different voices troughout the
MQ) and a group of guards in front of the curtain, it's cheap but I
think it works.

maybe... he sould be some kind of demi-god, like vivec...
or, he could just be some really old looking elf with a lot of pretty elf chicks around him...
or maybe he's a middle aged elf warrior, that sometime in the MQ he goes and fights along side you?

Th reason his appearence is a problem is because he is what the
majority is... His sex is that of the majority. So is his height and
age etc. etc.

The point would be he chanced his looks daily... that's hard to make so
perhaps a costume with a mask or like I suggested he's behind a curtain
(for outlanders).

ohh I see, so maybe the mask thing will work the best...
and if the people are sad or angry the mask can change emotion. this can be included in the MQ.

I was thinking Silvenar could be, say, middle aged when the player
starts the main quest and as the tension builds to the climax he ages.
That would show how the people are becoming more stressed and afraid.
A step further would be that Silvenar dies from all the aging and the
player takes his place, becoming the next Silvenar. And then, being the
embodiment of the people, becomes a wood elf. Then the player could
rescue the people from their plite and be their hero.

It's not possible to age a NPC, we can however replace him with an
older version. but I think it's simply impossible to change the
player's race.

Yeah, what I was thinking was that every time the player went to the
Silvenar for a new quest he could be older(replace with older npc each
time) until he finally croaks.
At that point a dialog comes up like:
"Would you like to become the next Silvenar?"
"Yes"
(Brings up character race generation screen like in the sewers)
"No"
(Closes dialog)
Perhaps we could make only the race generation screen come up and
perhaps even limit race selection to Wood Elf. This would place the
player as the most powerful person in Valenwood which would be quite
rewarding.

Auryn Fraktyl has a character generation mod(AF Level Mod) that allows
the player to change his/her race w/o reseting stats. That was what I
meant. Sorry.

Character Generation Amulet? That mod doesn't work for me and it never
works when you use a non vanilla race. And we're planning making a new
race of Bosmer with different eyes... not to mention all the people
that play with races from mods. So the idea is great, just no possible

Welcome to the Valenwood Team. There is plenty of stuff to find lore about, any location, region, city on this map would be good. Or the islands to the south

Thinkin about this - it would be very poignant as mer measure their
lives in the hundreds of years ... and such a sacrifice would be very
Wild Hunt/Bosmerish ... however I would prefer to see this in another
setting as I would expect something like that would be there in Dance
in the Fire. But another twist to make it possible could be connected
to the problem with Falinesti - maybe the 'leader's life force is tied
to the Tree and whatever has stopped it is draining him?
