Well I have recieved a good offer from the Grey Wizard of the LOTR mod. They have already set up alliances with skyrim for meshes. And would like to do the same with us.

They have some nice buildings that could use (Lothlerain (sp, sorry)). And they have agreed to share them with us. I would also like to see what the core thinks about this. I think it is a great opportunity :)

Discuss,

Well, what they might have that we can use... is probably some stuff here and there, armour, bows, elven stuff... Big trees Yes ... And we let them use our meshes... The good thing would be we get some new meshes, but the uniqueness of them is no longer going to apply to either side. So what we lose is what we gain here... What do other people think? Maybe some nice retextured Rivendell pieces would look nice for some mystical meadow?

Grey Wizard told me that he is making some architecture for (I forget the name of the city) and he thinks it would fit well with the Bosmer. Wait and see I guess but I have high hopes.

It's that city in the trees, in the first movie. Lothrien, or something. Darn I love those movies how could I forget it? Anyway their modeler is really tallented, I have seen some pictures of the stuff they made. Amazing, I loved it.

EDIT: Thats not the only elven city they are making, they are making all of Middle Earth, there are a lot of Tree Cities apparently. Mirkwood GW said might also have some models we could use.

Think the elven is Lothlorien or the Forest of Lorien according to men - depends on which language you are speaking.

Would seriously have to see what is on offer... this is quite tricky as Bethsoft are not too happy about using their stuff to do other games, and they might view LOTR as such at some point...

Also I believe that it is even more important that we do not get linked to LOTR than it is to remain separate from TR?

Would be sad to lose an opportunity, but take care not to lose your souls, those that lice beneath the eves of Llothlorien are said to be perilous...

ps, can't vote without full info = sight of their work...

pps it is a book not a film - the film was a game, but poor paraphrase...

They are not completely ripping it from LOTR. So we should be fine. We are not linked, we are just sharing resources that may be usefull to either side, as are Skyrim and Elsweyr.

Elsweyr wasn't sharing, were they (we)?

We have an exchange basis. If they giv eus us something we want, we give them something they want, this keeps our resources internal, but allows for some sharing. I will not, under any circumstances, let someone else have our scimitars, I like them, hehe.

Okay, I voted, I'm the one who voted no if you couldn't tell for any weird reason, but it is a core decision, so I will abide by what we decide as a whole.

I think it would be better to directly ask the one who originally modelled or textured whatever if it can be used, though...

But really, when you think about it, the LotR mod doesn't really have the permission of the one who modelled the objects in the first place, we do. I think it would be best to directly ask the people who made the objects, as the objects are theirs, not ours.

The objects are not direct copies, and no one is going to EA. They wont be our main models, just to get us started on GreenHeart, plus they are making some Valenwood buildings for GreenHeart.

Well, OK, but be careful - what we really need at this point is to ensure that we keep increasing the usable, but in a truly Lore-inspired way - we don't want to get lost in the woods of contradiction just because something exciting turns up... LOTR is exciting, but it is not Valenwood and I would expect that there are aspects to their design that will forever remain unusable with ES.

Still can't vote 'till I see what they have to offer! Wink

Aye theres that. But we are not going to use their models as our default ones. We are using the models to help us out, get us on our way and recruit more people. Get better publicity etc. Were not going to use them everywhere, I certainly do not want to do that. But it will help us get more recruits with the alpha, oh and those houses I keep mentioning, they are not LOTR models.

We are going to get completely new models complete with textures and interiors. I don't want to say much more because they are not in-game yet. When they are I hope to tantalize you with pictures :D
