Bubble bursting sad man, I know I know |
|
Hey
I've applied here at the forums to help out, will do some sketches for
things tomorrow as well as figuring out the CS again so I can do some
"real" work.
One thing though that caught my attention, someone said that valenwood
would be 5 times the size of cyrodill, I don't want to burst everyone's
bubbles because I love this idea and I'm willing to work to see it
through, but 5 times the size is beyond the scope of what we can
realistically accomplish on any acceptable time scale. I think we
should limit the vision a little bit, scale it to the same scale as
Cyrodiil, of course not leaving out any important bits but reducing the
sheer size of terrain to mod.
I urge you all to think seriously about what can be accomplished given
that bethesda had years of work by very talented people to accomplish
what they did with just Cyrodiil.
Bubble bursting aside, I'm going to work my arse off, I'd just like to
see some direction in how we go about this, quality not quantity as
they say

Actually, Valenwood and Elsweyr together are 5 times bigger than Cyrodill.

Cyrodiil's size only worked because, as far as settlements and the like
go, there's nothing IN Cyrodiil. You can't do that with the other
provinces or you'll have a city every ten feet.
I'm quite sure that a lot of thought has gone into the scale they decided on.

Yeah, and both provinces can be VERY large. I mean, both desert and forrests can spread for hundreds of miles.

Ok sorry, didn't realise that we were doing elsewyr as well. Quick
question though, is there really likely to be more towns and cities in
a sub province of the empire rather than it's capital? Not trying to be
sarky or anything, just wondering. |

There were more settlements on Vvardenfell than there are in Cyrodiil.
I don't see why Elsweyr and Valenwood wouldn't have more, as well.

Ok fair enough, dunno, it just doesn't seem right to me to over
populate the Valenwood with little settlements and the like. It's hard
to explain but it just... feels.... wrong.... to overpopulate, anyone
get me?

It isn't overpopulating, according to Valenwood's lore. Not for the
size they're doing it, particularly. If anything, Bethesda just
completely underpopulated Cyrodiil.

If you look at the map made by ArthmodeusD it shows many villages, so
there is no way we can over populate it and the scale we have made
would be just right to fit everything and at the same time seem
realisitic.
Topic kind of died a while ago but I just wanted to clear things up.
