I started writing this for the alpha but only part way through
remembering that it would be set on three islands rather than Arenthia.
Ah well however pre-mature this may be, here is a guide to Arenthia!
Guide to Arenthia
Esald Wallace
Welcome reader to this humble guide book written to inform you of the
customs and character of a place called Arenthia. Whether you are new
to town, planning a visit or even live here I suggest you read the
following.
Introduction
Let me start by saying Arenthia has a unique flavour amongst this
province?s towns and cities and this will be noticeable from the
outset. Arenthia is my home so don?t let those stone walls put you off
staying a while, I promise you the locals are very accommodating!
An Imperial border town and the gateway to Valenwood; Arenthia serves
an important purpose in these lands. Situated a small way into
Valenwood, the town is easily reached from the north and often sees
travellers come and go, indeed our public houses and Inns are filled
with characters going in all directions. That is not to say the place
is simply a hub for tourists and merchants, there are plenty of long
term residents and homeowners such as myself. However I will say that
local services are influenced by these passers-through; there are two
establishments for those who need a bed and an equal number of
outfitters for those travellers of the adventuring or weather bearing
breed. See the Services section below.
With all of that said, there is a peaceful charm about Arenthia one
will no doubt find gripping once they have been here a little while.
The towns name in fact derives from the very first king of the Bosmer
and thus the place has a most majestic sense; in fact I am sure this
very thing is what has kept me here for so long.
Services
In the lower district you will find Menelri?s; it?s a cosy although
humble Inn of sorts. Most of the townsfolk find there way here at some
point and it is most definitely the only place to catch up on gossip
and rumour. You will find cheap ale and decent food here and there are
accommodating rooms for rent also; however these are housed in a
separate structure close by.
The other stop off in town is the Cliff Side, located in the upper
district and entertaining a slightly wealthier clientele than its
competitor it is often preferred by those travellers who arrive horse
drawn and suited in silk rather than those who arrive by foot and in
leather and hides. One cannot fault the services there, though I have
only visited a handful of times I felt the atmosphere somewhat
stifling.
As mentioned earlier those wood-stalkers and adventurers in need of
repairs and arms have two choices. For those who prefer the range and
deadly accuracy of marksmanship there is ?The Bow and Arrow? run by a
fine wood elf who stocks everything one would need whether hunting,
fletching, warring or all three. There is also a cruder alternative for
those who like to hit things until they stop moving, or even those who
continue further, namely ?Gakken?s Chop Shop?. My relations with the
Orc who runs the place have been few though I?m told he does an
adequate job of repairing and forging armour.
And last but not least there is ?The Draft?; run and overseen by an
Imperial gentleman, this bookshop has a basic selection one would
expect so close to the border though there are one or two unusual
writings to be found there. The owner is agreeable and neat ? I
recommend a visit.
Final Word
And there it is; I hope you have enjoyed reading about Arenthia and I
now urge you to go out and experience it. Be sure to stop off at
Menelri?s one night and share an ale or two with the locals, I myself
am a regular and would have you know that discussion is not limited to
my guidebook alone, I welcome any new topic you would have us debate
over a drink!

I'm loving it
Arenthia will be what I will be working on after the Islands, while overseeing work at Falinesti. A leaders job is never done
Great work,

Ah yes I suppose it does sound a little Nordish, Esald is a Breton who
lives in Arenthia so I'll come up with something different.
Cheers for pointing that out
