VIC01 "Forgotten Cave" - Complete Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

Claim Code:

VIC01 "Cave"

Architectural type:

Natural Cave

Estimated Size:

Medium/Large

Description:

A medium to large cave. Its going to be part of a quest so need to be a challenge. I would like it very winding with dead ends so its easy to get lost and should spiral downwards. The final section should be split off by a a iron mesh door. Tree roots should dangle in the upper area (havok and normal). The lower region should be filled full of water (ankle Depth). The final room should be fairly large with some human architecture.

NOTE: Make this only dependant on Oblivion.esm. Make a copy of any piece you use and name Valenwood(originalname) when its complete they will be retextured to be mossy and change the model paths. The reason for this is that I dont want to retexture the entire caves set Tongue

Happy Modding,
Tom

I'm not too great with caves but I think I'll have a try.

Sooo, I DONT wanna say it got pretty huge, buuut ... yeah ... Yes
Aaaand, I also would recommend NOT to visit it without torches. Yeah. Yes

Alright, lets talk business. The Cave itself is done, took me a little bit, but its quite big with lots of dead ends and twists aaaand you'll need a while until you find the human part of the cave. Now. Should I put realistic lightning in it? Meaning .. none? (Besides the lighting done by the human of course in his living area). I thought I'd be pretty cool to walk through that cave and not being able to see anything without your torch.

EDIT: alright, I just tried it with an ambient lightning of 0. You see nothing but pitch black. If you use a torch it looks quite amazing. Just as if you were realing walking through it. ---> I totally vote for the cave having no lights besides down in the living area!!!! Good job!

Sounds really amazing mate. I love the idea of no lighting. I've got one cool idea though in Dance with Fire they talk about iluminated/glowing lichen/mold so I thought I cold model and texture some for you to add to the cave. What do you think?

Add some traps if you think they will be fitting, dont really mind really.

Could you please post some screens?

I was wondering if there is more than one version of the Narmatee, could there be a small/tiny luminous albinoid variety that swims in large caves - that would provide faint and intermittant light and could be very spooky!

The light could only affect their immediate vicinity, so they would not illumine a cave wall unless almost touching it ...

I dont mind about traps what do you think? The cave is supposed to be forgotten so no NPC. I have made a couple on glowing lichen models just need to texture and export them. Ill send then to you in the next couple of days.

I say no lights aprt from emitting litchen, it will look so scary but so interesting. If you can think of any creature to retex (verydark glowing eyes etc) That would be amazing.

What about Bats? You know, just like the butterflies? That'd be pretty scary?

Release:
So, I'm about done with this. Type "coc vic01" in your console to visit the cave. For some odd reason you start off in the actual final part of the cave, I have no idea how to change it. But yeah, have fun. 2 traps are in it, I thought that too much traps would just make the cave too much "unforgotten".
Well yeah, have fun folks!

Just had a look and i'm seriously impressed Good job! That is one amazing cave and it will look very unique when the lichen is added (added to the .esm)

EDIT:
Played ingame looks great. Got really lost :)

Two things though

1: You dont seem to be able to get out the final bit when you fall in the hole.

2:The rock trap didn't fall when I ran under it?

Love the fake door with the smashable wood Cool
