Ready to model (just say "go"!) |
|
I searched through the recent threads and found a few large ones, and
some concepts that I really liked, so I was thinking of giving them a
go, but I don't know if I need the leaders' approval or not... All I
really know about the lore is that Bosmer have that Green Pact (which I
can work with
), are carnivorous (result of the green pact), and are rather short
(after 150 hours of playing as one, and always looking up to people, I
know bahaha). Right so, here's the links to meshes I'd like to tackle,
I apologize if people have already done them (i got lost in the thread
pages so gave up and made this one
) :

AJAlkaline's Concept Art
For the more complex ones, even if they turn out badly or someone has a
better one you can always use the different parts as building blocks
for variations/other buildings of the same kind. I'll post images until
you want me to send them over. Then I'll e-mail the blender file... or
you can instruct me on how to .nif it and make it into an object for
the game - I dunno how.
I also have some suggestions for things that I saw throughout my searches. For the hippogryphs: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=6648
Its a mod that adds a flying horse. It wanders around normally when not
used, then snaps to a midflight animation when you fly it. It also has
wings (but they don't move). If someone could ask The Bloke really
nicely use it but with a modified horse mesh (that's half eagle), and
someone [else?] could texture it, we would have a rather beautiful
basic functioning hippogryph! I can't do this one (i don't yet know how
to make moving/animation friendly models), just a thought though.
Also, this mod: http://home.comcast.net/~scruggsyw/Thieves_Arsenal.htm
has a vine arrow that grows a vertical vine down from a collision-ed
high-up surface. The vine just extends down and doesnt move, but you
can climb it, and jump from one to another. With the permission of the
modder, I think someone can take the vine functionality and implement
it into the large forests. That way we'll have a fun way of travelling
the huge high up jungles and in case you fall off something you can try
to grab one of these so as to avoid dying
again, not really a job for me, but still, if someone could look into
it, it might be worth while (first read how the vines are operated
before making a final decision, you may think its too primitive, it
also needs Oblivion Script Extender for the mod its in, I dont know
about the vine itself...).
Oh and can the Bosmer use bones with pointy stones or metal for arrows?
I'm really hoping the mod can be just added on so we can simply walk to
Valenwood (my character could go home! haha) cos i'd be lost without my
glass arrows and elven bow.
As for the monkey folk, someone made a playable monkey Race already,
maybe we can just ask them real nice to let us use them as NPCs...
So sorry for the long post, please reply ASAP so I can get started!
Demayetay
P.S. OOO compatible for this mod would be nice : P

Hey, welcome to the team
, its great to have someone like you around
. I am doing the teaser island for this mod and I am desperate need for
some creatures, dont think there is much creature concept art. I would
do those things first and creatures are hard to model and make
realistic!
Happy modding,
Tom

dang, I had already started on the flower bud house!
oh well... maybe I'll make it a rose instead? How bout that? And i'll
get to working on the other free ones. Also, what of these ones? (the
lamp and maybe the upside-down flower one - they're essentially the
same) AJAlkaline's Concept Art
thanks,

Make what you like, but we got several creatures
Though some need better and newer art. But we got the seacow for the south, and perhaps my turtleshield hammer head fellow.

Oh no, I wasnt saying that I should make the hippogyph, just that most
of it (including the flying bit) is already made. Any thoughts on
climbable vines? Oh and I found this, i'm thinking of using it for some
things... http://graphics.uni-konstanz.de/%7Eluft/ivy_generator/

Sorry on the late welcome, I've been busy with the most important tests
of the year coming up. Anyway, it's great to have a new modeler here,
and Morm, the ones you listed as done, infact have been abandoned by
their old modelers, so Demayetay you have a free to choice to make
anything you like the most from our free concept art.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of contact. I've been [infuriatingly]
swamped with homework, as well as had a funeral in the long weekend...
So I'm kinda of exhausted, and the work won't be over til sometime
Saturday (I'm also doing the thirty hour famine at my school). Sorry...
can't wait for the summer... but ah well, I'll enjoi the spring as it
comes (mind you it's snowing here in T.O...
)
Right so, progress... it exists, heh. I'm just doing the modeling bit
by bit as a feel like it, but no worries, I'm still very much
interested. I'm trying to figure out a system for modeling that works
for me, that goes farther than using the one angle of concept art...
I'm going to try make the basic model out of plasticine then take pics
and use those as reference while in blender. I'll tell you how it goes
when I do it.
So far, I've got a good bit of the Bud house done (I'd say just over
50%, needs some fine-tuning and such), and a prototype/first version of
the bulbous fungi house[it's a simple model so it'll be subject to much
practise modeling and experimentation with modular things]. Again, not
complete. I was wondering for these houses, since they're designed to
be open, should I model a basic inside as well? The walls will be
polygon thin everywhere but for sections like the windows and entrances
(to make it more realistic) and then I could make the wooden platforms
in such a way as to make them modular (so someone could make each house
unique in CS).
I've been slowly looking into texturing (though the tutorials are hard
to read/watch through). I was wondering if there's a resource for
textures (a place where I can get them from that's in sync with
everyone else one this mod), or maybe if I should just stick to the
modeling part and let the texturing be someone else's worry? Anyway,
sorry for the long post and thanks for not giving up on me as a
deserter
.
Demayetay has attached these images (downsized versions):

Hey no real rush fella, take it at your own pace - I'm just thrilled we
have a moddeler who is enthusiastic about Valenwood!
What you ave done looks fantastic to me though I can offer no help as
regards tutorials and whatnot as I'm no moddler or texturer, I can only
suggest you head over to Silgrad's visual development boards, FAQ
boards and General modding boards - lots of experienced clever folk
such as yourself frequent these places from what I've seen
The mod is moving at somewhat of a 'leisurley' pace a the mo so dont worry to much about not getting to the boards

Take all the time you need, better slow poigress then a guy that quits because we're to demanding and it's not fun anymore.

heyyyy, greets Demywotsit - jungle
That system you are developing of plasticean and photos sounds like it
has possibilities. I have seen a number of quality models that used
photos one way or another, and they seemed to better the made totally
from scratch models 'count'-wise and offered high quality too.
As for work load, we will be just as happy if you spread it over
several days - plascticean time, photo time, conversion to graphics
time, etc

heh, as an occaisional contributer I suppose *shrug* i'm really sorry I
don't have the hype that I did when I came on board... oblivion's kinda
lost it's big fun fun for me. but not in a bad way, it's like how I
love the sims but havent played properly in months. It's still an
amazing game. but still, i'll try to do my bit (jsut not in a hurry ;P
). And it'll be so great when this comes together, how's all the other
stuff going btw? (landscaping and stories and stuff? there should be an
adventurer's release first so that those of us who just love to explore
can get to it and test without having to wait for quests).

Yer it does, I convert .dds to Targa (.tga) when using blender! What are the models for? Personal practice?

I use 3D max 9
And well my PS CS can't save targa... Anyway models are for a schoolproject, when it's done I'll try to upload it
Finishing 3th texture for the toyblocks, will be the last one.
Modelled the screwdriver, still needs texture
finished the ball
So tonight I finish the magazine and then I'm done for today.
