I got some more ideas on the MQ that might be useful, sincve it's full
of lore and also might be stretching it a bit I think it's a good idea
to hear your imput. FLESH said it's lot simulair to the OB MQ, well I'm
not sure about that, I never got past Siege of Bruma. All lore are just
what I remember, so it's not 100% accurate.
In each province you got one of the big towers that hold up the mortal
plain, the one time they were succesfully attacked let to the
Dragonbreak. At that point time lost it's chronological "pattern",
past, present and future happend at the same time. Akatosh lost control.
In the OB mainquest Martin defeated Merunes Dagon and Akatosh recreated
the barrier between the mortalplain and the oblivionplains. After that
Sheogorath was defeated and a mortal became equal to a prince. To make
things worse Jyggaleg has come back ready to conquer all realms again.
let's say the princes aren't that happy about this situation.
Daedric princes are talking about banding up against Jyggaleg again.
Not all agree, Jyggaleg isn't a treat, yet. Merunes Dagon decides it's
time to get more ground for a bigger army. Again he lays his eyes on
the mortalplain, wasn't the mortalplain where the slayer of Jyggaleg
came from? Weren't humans sometimes not the strongest warriors?
So he comes up with a new plan...
One of the big mistakes in Oblivion lorewise is the realm of Merunes
Dagon. According to the lore it's a dark and evil forest. So how can a
Daedric Prince secretly invade the mortalplain with such a realm? In
Valenwood of course, woodland enough. The Bosmer don't talk much with
the other races either. But with that damn barrier he can't enter the
mortalplain, nor can his minions. But just like Sheogorath he can open
a portal to invite the mortals in.
So he opens a portal, after a while a little weird Bosmer man walks
into the portal. After some "talking" he can be persuaded into
believing that Merunes Dagon is his beloved master and rightful ruler
of the mortalplain. So he exit's the oblivionplain of Merunes Dagon.
Back in Valenwood he starts to recruit more Bosmer for his cause. He
and his followers get new powerfull magical abilities like invisibilty
and strong destructionspells. Nobody knows who they worship, because M.
Dagon was smart enough not to mention his name to the Bosmer prophet.
Because the cult are well hidden in the heart of Valenwood the people
on the outskirts rarely know the cult exists, it's more of a rumor.
Because of their secrecy the cult can do what they want deep in the
jungles of VW. Slowly they begin building more portals to the realm of
Merunes Dagon. They try to bind daedra souls longer to this world.
Because of all this the jungle around them begins to look more like the
realm of M. Dagon.
The plan of M. Dagon and therefor the cultleader is to destroy the
tower of VW, Falinesti. It that works M. Dagon hopes Akatosh loses
control over the mortalplains ones more like with the Dragonbreak so he
can invade.
Of course it's up to the player to stop them, again. To make this more
intresting it won't be all about getting errants and closing ugly
hellish gates. The gates will lead to dark forests, filled with mist,
twisted trees and horrible monsters. The player won't be the only hero.
We all learned from OB MQ that a NPC with personality can be fun to
play around. So I was thinking of making tow great heroes, the player
and a bosmer. So far what I thought of a possible MQ. Now some details,
ideas and other stuff related to this.
- Merunes Dagon can be helped by either Boethiah or Mephala, but I think Boethiah is better,
- Perhaps Merunes Dagon tries to directly assault the player in his
dreams, unlike MW you do't get visions but will be teleported to the
daedric realm.
- Perhaps during the MQ the player needs to contact the remenants of the Aldmeri dominion in the south.
- No gates just popping up out of nowhere. Of course there will be
attacks by the cult and M. Dagon but let this be scripted and made
misc. quests for the player. The cult is always there, so even if the
player doens't follows the MQ he can still do the quests.
- Merunes Dagon is known for his attemps to invade the mortalplain so it's not that weird to choose him (again).

1: A mortal is not the same as a prince right now, it's not the subgradient, you just held the mantel.
2: Don't have Dagon try to use the exact same plan again. The Mythic
Dawn believed Tamriel was Dagon's realm, stole a stone in an attempt to
let Dagon destroy a tower. Sure, Dagon won't do it himself this time
but come on.
3:I wouldn't touch Jyg right now, he's just adrift in the void at the moment, looking to start again. Beth has big plans there.
4: There has been more than one successful attack on a tower,
Morrowind. It asn't because walk-brass was attacked that it caused the
break, its because the Dwemer created a vessel for Lorkhan's soul to
help him leave the mortal realm, and to go with him. Lorkhan, a lover
of mundas, does not wish to leave, he wishes to become the New Man,
which he needs mortality, and what is beyond mortality, in order to
exist.
5: No other deadric prince would aid in a plot to destroy mundas.

5: Well Boethiah is all about conspiracy and overthrowing rulers, so
that's not that weird but I agree it's not the best MQ ever created.
It's just a brainbstorm.
