Who are the Bosmer? Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

Ok in this topic I want to discus who the Bosmer really are. Generally Wood Elves are pictured as peacefull tree hugging elves, sometimes a bit more aggresive if you trespass their forest. I don't think Bosmer fit in that category. I think Bosmer are really a group of savage elves. I suggest that it's the focus of our mod, to point out that not to known aspect of TES Wood Elves.

I picture the Bosmer to be small, tough and well kinda aggresive. Though Valenwood has towns I imaging most Bosmer to life with their tribes. Maybe towns are fractured by the clans?

So I think artwise I (maybe more people? Tongue ) need to focus on developing a more savage look for the bosmer aiming at thier canabalistic and carnivoric nature. What do you think?

Hey that are some interesting thoughts ^^ I think you're right there's some sophistication I've ignored. They are indeed not total caveman, but maybe very passionate? They got trouble controlling their emotions?

The idea of a great fear and burden behind the Green Pact is close to utter brilliance :D How could I've not thought of that.

I think that a lot of bosmer nowadays are a lot more exposed to and accepting off the foreign ways. they see alternatives to the green pact and do not think that breaking it is heresy. there are of course the radicals that believe all plants everywhere are sacred, but many are probably willing to allow some breach (especially on the part of foreigners). Most bosmer nowadays follow the green pact out of tradition and reverence for the past rather then true belief -- hence the willingness to warn outsiders of the wild hunt and other cultural institutions. I think that a strong difference between the cities and the wilderness and remote villages is present. the people in the cities are a lot more accepting of imperial ways (and a lot more "apologetic" for their own), while the people outside the foreign sphere of influence are still largely hard-core green pact-ers.

a few wood elf pictures, not sure if you've seen them before.

I like the elf but he looks rather slender for the face of a Bosmer.

I wasn't referring to the hunt in soltheim, if you mean this:
quote:
hence the willingness to warn outsiders of the wild hunt

I was replying to this:
quote:
The Bosmer warned the travellers to flee because they knew what they were about to unleash with the wild hunt...

[edit] as for the pictures, they are MK's (Michael Kirkbridge, ex-dev) work rather then mine.

This distinction between 'wild' elves (not the wild elves) and Imperialised elves is something we have discussed but never really resolved before.

I dont know anything about race mods but is there no way to create a Bosmer race which are slender and more agile looking? Tatoos, earrings and 'extreme' hair are something we should look at too, the tribal look of the Bosmer that I have seen in concepts is similar to that of the ashlanders.

The Imga rocks too, the reskining of trolls is the only option I can see to have them realised but that does rather take away any sophistication that they seek to imitate.

Good point, for some reason I always think the only way we can introduce new creatures is to plainy re-skin them - a nice tunic or roman robe would look brill.

Be fantastic if the player could talk to them somehow.

MK works for no man, or woman for that matter, and is extremely unreliable when he does say he will do stuff (he still owes lutemoth half a dozen redguard cultural pictures and TR a book). though I hardly blame him, he is an extremely busy man and a dev at that, AND he has no obligation to us what so ever. my experience with him has been very pleasant in the past, he has helped me a lot :)
