I know that we have a few options here (well, maybe not
). Grey Wizards one, that is out, it's a completely flat map in the
shape of Valenwood, and takes up a huge amount of space. Some very old
ones from Valenwood/Elsweyr time, those are also out as height is crazy
in those.
Now Vality was meant to do something for us, but I don't think he ever
got around to it. We need a new HM, 4x4 quads I would say, or 4x3. What
are peoples opinions here?

With grey Wizards flat but Valenwood shaped one could we not 'mould' it
as we go along acording to lore accurate maps and what not? Or is that
completley silly? I confess I know nothing about heightmaps...

It's not thats it's silly, just impractical. We have faster ways of
doing it than that, this isn't TES3. We have no real work done on any
of them, so we don't stand to lose much, only gain a good proper HM.

The problem is, I was against the whole thing. But he won over my trust, and went to do it his own way

Photoshop an 8 bit greyscale .bmp where land is absolute black and
water is absolute white. Load it into vality's program, cut the height
difference by half, slope it by some small degree, then lower the white
to default sea level. Load the quad in the CS and use the defaul
heightmap editor well on the one quad valenwood and export it. Reimport
to vality's program and scale it up, then reimport. Then you have basic
geographical details that would be impractical to do by hand, and you
can add detail as you work.

That sounds like a very good solution. But who do we get that can do that?

Get me the greyscale .bmp of valenwood, and I'll turn it into the quad
you need, I'll give that to you, you can edit it and send it back, and
I can scale it up and upload it for you.
Hooo boy.... Heightmaps

Yeah, 'good' times
I can do the CS part with editing, but the drawing of it . . . . I'm a lousy artist

Well can chris07 draw? If he can, he's more than welcome to have a go
at drawing it in Photoshop. I'm not too choosy about the person as long
as the work is done well. I don't think having our whole team as the
Core is a good idea either. But time will tell how things work out.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I made some form of a HM for ST, but I'm not in their core
