had just bought a book on drawing and was trying to utilise the tips

Haha, yes I noticed the rings, I also knew what they were, don't worry
I don't think you are crazy drawing strange rings around your
characters

I expect all artists do it. The brief art classes I did during school,
my teacher was always talking about drawing rings in order to get the
right shape of body.

Ok technically I don't use taht much rings perse
but I do use a skeleton and from there add some basic shapes.
