Now, Silvenar is called the "Flower City" (see DiTF). So, how did it get that name?
FC4 came up with the idea of a flower-house in the Falinesti Architecture thread, and I expanded the idea into:
"What if we had a nesting doll-based flower house? The main chamber is
one flower, and then inside of that are smaller flower 'rooms'. "
But what I want to know is: what is everyone else's idea on the Silvenar architecture?

I think it gets the flower city name from the amber covering it. Maybe
it is a land surface covered in Amber, and from that amber has sprouted
various flowers?
I personally see Silvern as one big flower bushel.

how did the amber form? the locals speak of it as the blood of a

her Besmer children to live upon. Or perhaps (which I prefer more) the

Pact at this time and the city "bled out" and died, enveloping the
ancient city deep in its amber. |
I... I love it... simply beautiful...
Concept art on it's way.

Oh thats good, thats really gooood - cant wait for the concepts.
I have an image of silvenar in my mind and its a bit like an amber
version of the jade quarry in guildwars if anyone has played that.
Rounder obviously and bevelled in areas, and with trees surrounding it.
Lady N has overwritten it though with that lush description.
I have to admit I got a little bit excited readin your passage myself. (ooer)

I have seen concept art for the palace already, but I want to start
with that anyways, and make that my first example of concept art.

RE: Silvenar Architecture |

I think that would be good for the Temple of Silvenar, if there is one.
Otherwise, for simple homes and buildings I'd say that's more of a
hanging thing for Falinesti really.
I've begun work on concept art for the palace, and layout of the city,
but it may need some heavy revision. All of it is Green Pact, as the
growth of the plants will be manipulated to make the buildings, rather
than harmed, and primal stone work will be used.
Now, JAA, I took your suggestion to heart, and though I cannot draw
this idea well, I wish to share it with you all. The Palace, in my
mind, would be one giant rose, and the Amber is what makes the rooms.
Crossing between the petals and dripping down, the amber creates rooms
and doorways naturally within the confines of the petal structure of
the rose. One of the petals at the base of the flower would be the one
described in Dance in Fire as the bridge leading to the Palace
entrance. The throne itself would be beneath a tower of three entwined
thorned vines.
The Palace is nestled in a small basin, as is most of the city, and the
edges of this basin rise up to form a natural wall around the palace.
Thick thorn vines spread from the base of the rose out to the large
trees surrounding the palace, wrapping around them. They are connected
to the palace itself by bridges of slopping sap.
This is my mental image of the palace. You like, or do you oppose? I
have concept art of the outside of the palace, but not of the interior.

Very poetic, FC4! I can envision the palace from your description as something truly to behold.

Dance in Fire also seems to generally support my idea of the palace rooms.
I have a feeling the palace will be a vast exterior, rather than
interior. I don't consider that a problem in the slightest, but you all
might. As to how to construct this exterior or even interior... well...
Perhaps we should make designs of amber and tree sap, and then model
the whole rose, and make rooms by placing the pre-designed sap.

We can make it an exterior, but will still need to have a front door or something of the like. And great description FC4!

Why would we need a front door?
According to Dance in Fire, there is no door in the palace at all. The
complex network of rooms makes it more private instead of doors. I
still suggest making pieces of amber and assemble the rooms that way.
I'll try and scan the concept art sometime this week.

I think what he means is that we need a change of cell so that the
palace decor doesn't unnecessarily kill the frame rate outside the
palace. |

That's exactly what I mean, doesn't need to be a door, just something clickable that transports you.
