Ah, right. I assumed it was implied since the thread is about the MQ.
Either way, to make Aldmeris seem alive (rather than like the myth
Nu-Mantia says it is
JK, not actually going there), it needs to have some sort of developed
religion, methinks. Most of the races you have would probably have
similar beliefs to the Altmer though, regarding the whole Aedra =
Ancestors, Lorkhan = bad thing. Perhaps have the religion be part of
the tension between the cultural groups? Perhaps even a cult of
Lorkhan... That'd go over pretty well with a bunch of mer.

Flesh the idea out and I might approve it.

I'll see what I can come up with and post something later this
evening... I'll probably post it the same way I would for the FSG on
TIL though since that's how I write best for TES stuff (in character).
A Treatise on Modern Aldmeri Religion, or something of that nature...
Since 'Modern Aldmeri' seems like the best catch-all term for the
various races in the mod.

The people of aldmeris is the blanket term we have been using,y ou
could just say mer, since they think they are the only ones.

I suppose. I'll just use mer then, 'Treatise on the Religion of the People of Aldmeris' isn't much of a title. >.>

A brave start to this essential subject =
brownie points for that.
However, there are issues that have to be considered here - it is a matter of approach.

a prominent role in every MQ. They didn't so much in Daggerfall, and
even in Morrowind it was pretty much just Azura. If the daedra do play
a role in the MQ for Aldmeris, it should at least be done better than
it was for Oblivion. |
Some decisions have to be made on the basis of Lore...
One wonders whether you have payed any attention to a little game called Oblivion?
Whether or not or the Gates open in Aldmeris should depend on only one thing: is Aldmeris part of the Empire?
- If yes then there will be Gates! (hopefully nothing as dangerous as Bill Gates)
- If no, then there is a huge question of whether the death of the
Emperor affects the whole of Nirn? - this is unlikely. My take on the
reasons for the invasion is that it is to do with the relationship
between the empire and the Daedra Princes... so that suggests to me
they are likely to be too busy enjoying their invasion of the Empire
that they were barred from (except through special means) and showing
just how unfriendly they can be if not treated with respect... or
placated... or whatever... to think of oinvading other realms...
However, that should not rule out other involvement of Daedra - it
could be that with the attention of the Daedra Princes on their
Invasion etc they will let slip control elsewhere... If you played
Battlespire you will be aware that there are other 'powers' in the
ranks than the Princes or unnamed, generic 'Daedra Lords' such as we
fought in Morrowind.
So, as this is Aldmeris I think that there should be Ancient Lore on
the Daedra that is not available elsewhere, and if there are Daedra,
then they should show far more personality than in mainland Tamriel to
reflect what should be a higher level of common knowledge... = each
Daedra must have a personal name... remember that if Aldmeris is not
part of the Empire and is indeed considered mythical by Imperials then
Imperial Law and custom will have no effect on the people... = we have
to look closely at ancient practice as the basis for society etc...
The essence of the MQ has to be Aldmeris-specific Lore-inspired and
founded - our work here as MQ Developers is to bring forth the major
lines of action and reaction that define the society that we are
developing -
= pleeeease avoid at all costs starting with: 'hey wouldn't a great big
sword, tower, prophesy like in another game, film, book be fun?'...
Recommend someone get out their copy of Battlespire or
find a link to Battlespire Lore to show how the Daedra society really
works when not 'dumbed down?'

I actually tried to get out my copy of Battlespire, but XP doesn't like it.
Thing is, Aldmer had a tendency to despise the daedra and focus on
Aedra, so I wouldn't see there being much more 'common' knowledge of
them than there is in any daedric cult.

The only reason that the Daedra were able to come through was that the
Mythic Dawn were opening portals to Oblivion all over Tamriel.
If someone had a motive to open an Oblivion gate in Aldmeris, then they would be able to.

Deadra exist in mundas, with or without their precious gates, they are just much less organized.

Whyis it time? Why rush it? And I thought we already said it would
focus on the politics, and I have already submitted my idea, focusing
on the war with the yokumer, and the many other squables.

Why not like a Battle of the Races everyone wants the continet for themselves?

To obvious, not subtle at all, no real politics, and it puts what lore we have in the garbage as useless.

At start out the player is introduced to the different groups and
factions of the land as it builds up a bunch of spats and disputes
between the many races then near the closeing elcalates to a war
between some of the groups and the player helps to decide the final
oucome of who wins and who loses
there my 10 cents

That many different possibilities would be near impossible to do.
No matter how cool of an idea it is, though I am against it, it could
not be done. (nobody go saying "nothing is impossible" because you know
what I mean)

well here what I ment you get to go and do quest that are standard, not
a one sided quest line for each race, and when it breaks in to conflict
have say 2 quest for each race depending on who the player decides to
help.

I think the end goal should be unity.

What a boring, unimaginative ending that'd be.
