One is mostly elven in appearance, except he is slightly tinted and has
smaller fins then the concept you posted. The other looks like the
concept you posted.

how about elvish structure, but with flabbier cheeks like a fishes, a
dorsal fish with whisker-hair (like cat-fish), and leathery skin? wow
about tops are darker green-blue and bellies are whiter, like many
fish.... and maybe the feet are webbed for to allow easier swimming...
but still retaining much of the Mer look because they aren't fully
adapted, maybe they just have large chests and lungs and come up for
air, and also have colonies on land still? |

I like that.
And how about some of their features retract after sustained life on land.

I have an idea actually...
what if when they are born, they are cradled in guarded tidal pools...
and then as they grow in adolescence and young adults they are able to
go on land more and their fishy features disappear... but as they grow
older they return to the sea more often and to their under-water
settlements...
though their adaptations grow and recede, they still retain some fishy
aspects and mostly Mer aspects, though those who spend nearly all their
time in the ocean look almost like humanoid fish with a Merish facial
features and body...
however. in a way they are born with a choice of land or water being in
both, and then when young they are careless and ambitious to conquer
the land, but soon go back to the water to grow older and wiser...and
die...
though older Ulsmer maybe more powerful, they will have developed a
yearning for water... while younger Ulsmer may be more foolish and
belligerent, they are loath to leave their terrestrial freedom (and
danger)
so the semi-free culture of the Ulsmer allows them to go on land and
sea, but also accomodates for their posterity... and forces cooperation
as older sea Ulsmer are wiser and more powerful, but younger ones
maintaining terrestrial homes and mediating between other Aldmer and
the sea-Ulsmer...
and both protect the young on the sea-shores in special guarded birht pools...
how about it?
EDIT: is concept art welcome? I may be able to have time for some drawing by the end of the week

awesome! So as kids, they are born in water, with fish features, then
when they reach adulthood they go onto land and evolve to a more normal
elven structure, then when they begin to grow old, they return to the
sea and grow their fish features back?

Sorry that you don't like mer, I'm actually a fan of argonians, I'm
actually not too crazy about mer either, but I started this mod because
it would give me so many creative options.

When the Ulsmer reach adulthood and emerge on land, does their skin color change?
Yeah, Altmer are ok, but I HATE Bosmer, they are such selfish jerks in oblivion.

why tridents? you guys are thinking too mermaid-ish...
but whatever... go ahead... maybe somethng original may come out of it? or a new way of using an old idea?
tridents are normally quite heavy weapons... of course water makes it "weigh less" but still, quite heavy....

Tridents are unique, they don't appear in any of the Elder Scrolls games.
