C: drive failed on my computer. I think it is fried. So since all my
important files are on the other drives I'll get a new one ordered
(probably another 120GB since they are very cheap now).

I do have one more 30GB HD available but am a little reluctant to use
it. The last one was given by my the place my brother works at so I
think ordering a new one is a more prudent idea. The last didn't make a
year. I'm looking for a new Western Digital drive (I've had the best
luck with them) for a good price. Any good ideas?

Since the UK seems to be the most expensive place to buy stuff all I
can do is commiserate, and wish your computer a speedy recovery.
Suspect Dusty does too, as computers are a source of gentle heat on cold days and nights!

Well at least the Oblivion file is on another drive so that's not to
worry about. But I don't have E-Mail access yet (the laptop is not
connected to my Comcast address or the Sisna one either). So anyone who
has sent me a message I apologize not responding.

Unfortunately, I was in a diabotic craze last night so I erased most of
the last post. I did see the doctor today and he said that its not
uncommon for a new diabetic to feel unnatural (I nearly passed out at
work yesterday) so he gave me some new instructions. So if anyone felt
offended, I apologize.
Anyway, I did place the E-Mail settings on the laptop and have
responded to any E-Mails sent to me. The main computer is still offline
but I'm really thinking of upgrading the machine now. I'll give specs
of what I see and let you comment on it.

Well, this is what I am thinking:
New items:
Asus A8R-MVP Motherboard
Athlon 4200 64 X2 Processor
2GB Memory
ATI Radeon X1600 512MB Video Card
120GB HD drive (probably WD)
Give me your comments because I may order it today!

Wow.
I'm not sure about the X1600. The Nvidia 7900 is better, but I don't
know how much more you'd have to shell out for it. What is the
clockspeed on that processor? 3.0?

I'm not sure, probably 2.4 on the processor.
But I can't spend too much so the highends are a bit out of reach now.
But an article on Slashdot that some of the regular cards are just as
good as running high end games as the high end cards. So it might be
easier to get a lower card which will run ES4 and give me Height
support than hit the 7900.

Well, my friend, just order a new WD 120GB Hard Drive for the machine.
Good advice on the Video Card, I'll probably will get it.
Edit: I've made the order, only unless of the Athlon X2 4200 I've made an order of the Athlon X2 4800 processor instead!
So I'll have an excellent machine to help out on the project.

I wish it was. But it was $400 more. So I'll have to settle with the
other. But I'll think I'll have a lot of fun playiing with Oblivion
with the new card anyway!

I have ordered all of the above. Execpt that the processor is an Athlon
4800 X2 Processor instead of the 4200. I can get the second card later.
But at least I will have a computer that can use the height map well
and I can do some real work for ST.

The x1600 was supposed to be good. I don't remember reading about it but I think it'll probably do better than my 6800 gt.

I've also ordered new speakers as well (the ones I have now 2 speakers
have gone into history). So I will now have an updated machine, new
sound system and may play Oblivion around mid-May.
Edit: I've also added a DVD Rom Burner as well so I should be set!

It should be a nice machine. Not top of the line but should give Oblivion a good run!
Edit: I also have Windows 64 coming as well. So I'll be able to use the new Athlon to it's full power.

Nice to hear things are going your way!
I wouldn't recommend Windows XP x64 though. I used for half a year and
it gave me nothing but problems. To take examples related to Oblivion,
the Construction Set crashed whenever I went into an NPCs "Face" tab
(the advanced tab worked though), and I wasn't able to take in-game
screenshots. Both those problems went away when I installed regular
Windows XP, and I can't say I've noticed any performance loss after the
switch.

Well, I'll see if I have a little better luck. I sort of have a strange
luck in getting things to work and maybe Windows 64 will have a better
time with me. Funny thing, even though I've had HD failure lately I
still have an Atari 800XL working since 1983, and Atari 2600 working
since 1979 and a Nintendo working since 1988.

The first part is in (believe it or not it's the HD), 6 to go before I rebuild it!
Edit: Will have to wait for the new Motherboard since mine won't
support SATA II HD's (ordered a lesser drive but they sent me this one
instead).
