I really like it, a clever texturer could probably get something pretty
close to the armor in your sketch with a bit of mesh editing. The tatoo
on the fellow on the lefts face gives me an idea, why not create
equippable tatoos that don't offer protection, but don't break and give
an enchantment? |

I think I saw on the official mod forums a RELZ or WIP of an "equipable tatoos" mod, don?t have any link or anything though
The concepts are very nice! They look very fitting and realistic. I
especcially like the big belts, might be cool to have the citywatch
logo on the round thing (is buckle the right word?) of the belt on the
dude to the right...

Ah, that would be a dudette.
I don't blame you for making that mistake though. Between her
outrageous shoe size, broad shoulders and shoddy facial features, it'd
be a wonder if anyone recognised her actual sex. However she is a
warrior woman and not a court lady, so I feel her 'flaws' are fitting.
If you look closely you'll notice my poor attempt at a modest bosom
'neath the fur.
I love the tattoo idea, by the by. If anything, I really missed the woad-marked Nord mugs in Oblivion.
Anyway, new stuff here: another take on the fur cuirass thingy (I
turned the fur bit inside out to keep the wearer warm, and now you can
stick a maille shirt on top with minimal hassle), and a 'wolf helmet'
concept. The latter might need some fleshing out, I'm not sure...
Anyway, I'm aware that my current design is a departure from the
typical Skyrim (read: Solstheim) brand, the weapons being especially
mundane in comparison, so tell me if I'm being too subtle. Perhaps a
more larger-than-life style would fit Skyrim better?

That one looks nice too!! We should do both!
The first two look more "wild" and fit on barbarians or the like me
thinks. The second one with the furry side inwards looks more civilized
and would be fitting for guards and stuff me thinks...
I like that your stuff is realistic and mundane, it all looks
believable. I think there are too many oversized swords and axes in TES
as it is
thats just my opinion though..

Truth be told, I prefer the more mundane stuff. However, I would'nt
want to defecate on anyone's expectations. I guess the Skyrim Nords are
less primal on the whole than the Solstheim variety though, so maybe
the 'realistic-looking' Oblivion-esque steel stuff fits them better?
The fur... Yes, you have a point. Perhaps, with their frost resistance,
the barbarous Nords simply wear the fur to get in touch with the
animals they hunt, or somesuch. Like a totem (or indeed, fylgja) thing,
if you will. More axes and clubs for those guys maybe; and more swords
and long knives for the settled folk?

If you want some inspiration for weapons have a look at the Nordic weapons from MW.

Thanks, friend.
Here's a fur pants/breeks/cuisses/greaves concept (seems I made it too
large again) and a quick experiment with heavy armour. The latter might
be a bit 'off theme' though -- sort of helps you with the visual part
of the phrase "if Mongols were Nazis." Anyway, I thought I'd show it
before it heads toward the bin.
Also, horned helmets -- yea or nay?

I have'nt been sketching much lately, but I thought I'd put up
something at least -- some recent helmet designs. Critique away...

Nice armor Aun
I have to agree with you there Bard, if it were Order of the Silver
Raven it wouldn't have the animal bones, and it would be more ornate.
However it's just right for Knights of the White Wolf. |

Thanks guys. Here's a random doodle guy that I did'nt have the heart to
erase, plus a gauntlet thingy for the above armour. Scale armour
experiments below.

Nice work. I'll find a suitable armour to re-tex. Things that I like
are the tranglular bit hanging below the belt, the scruffy belt, the
lack of sleeves, and the pauldron only on one side thing, though that
may be a little hard to implement.

Thanks! I was experimenting with the pauldrons, basically. Forgot to mention that.
Anyway the point was to show off possibilities, but the 'lopsided
armour' look works too ofcourse. Perhaps the sword arm, like like that
of a Roman gladiator, would be more thoroughly armoured whilst the
shield would protect the other? Those were specialised pieces though,
made for the arena, so maybe the single pauldron set would suit a
special band of fighters -- or indeed be the heavy armour of the Nordic
pit fighting sorts?

And yet another scaley concept: scale shirt plus lamellar sleeves and splint-like boots.

it looks good, however I think the helmets really have to maintain
their angry threatening look. at the moment your helmet looks a little
too much like a sad expression or an "omg that sword isn't supposed to
go there" expression of surprise. Also maybe something more with the
arms?
Look good though! your really good at drawing human figures =D

Thanks!
I was'nt sure if the boar/wolf figurine on top would come off as weird
or not, but I guess it works for you. Based it off helmets like this -- or rather the artist's rendition of the same.
Now this next one is obviously not mine, but the bronze work on it is
just too cool to ignore. Something for the wealthy sell-sword or a
Chief of a Hold:

Welcome to Skyrim for Oblivion!
We only have three modelers right now, and all of them are busy with
other jobs both in the project and in real life. We will model these
eventually, but architecture and stuff is more important right now than
armors and weapons. |

The real nords never did wear horns or wings on their helmets, that's
strictly an invention of german opera. Think Wagner n stuff.
I really like the wolf thingie up there. If that's too primitive for
modern skyrim, perhaps it could be ceremonial or something ? Anyway, I
like it! Really feral. |

These aren?t the real Nords though.
In reality there are no real Nords, the ES Nords are inspired by Norse,
Celtic and Viking culture for the most part. However the Vikings did
have some helmets that had parts resembling horns.
Oh and welcome to Skyrim for Oblivion!
