...from Kormak's Saga, perhaps a dispute (and later duel) over a woman
would be fun. I can't sleep at present so I might as well contribute
with something...
Scenario: HAKI, a well-to-do warrior/noble's son, was once
promised the hand of FRIDJA, an wealthy inn-keeper's daughter, in
marriage. However, the girl recently tied the knot with SIGBERN, a
vagabond and penniless decendant of Skyrim nobility. Upon his next
visit Haki found his bride-to-be in the arms of said vagabond, and were
it not for the strong presence of armed guardsmen he would have slain
them both in his ire. As it were, an argument ensued and the twain men
agreed to settle the matter by the weight of their blades. While
Sigbern firmly believes himself the better man, Fridja is not the sort
to take any chances -- and certainly not with her man.
Enter hapless PC
However one would chose to introduce the PC, Fridja is looking for a
stand-in. She'll keep Sigbern busy and/or sedated/drunk and out of the
way for the duration of the Quest. It should all be rather
straightforward and build toward the climactic duel.
* To fool Haki and the others into thinking the PC is Sigbern, a wee
bit of magic is needed. Fridja will suggest a trip to a sorcerous
friend of hers, TORVEIG, who lives by herself in the wild. Upon finding
her, the PC can either receive (by way of some amusing trial, perhaps)
a spell or a potion with the desired effect. (Maybe you should just
have the enchantment be cast on the PC by Torveig and skip a lot of
possible subsequent grief...)
* Now to a) reinforce the enchantment, and b) adventure some more, a
trinket or two of Sigbern's, or Sigbern's family, is to be acquired. No
better excuse to quest for a weapon to match Haki's own enchanted
blade, really. I thought one might do this in one of two ways: seek out
a relative of Sigbern's and borrow (one way or another) a fine sword;
or, if the PC is the Blunt weapons type, raid an old tomb for an axe of
Sigbern's great-uncle, or somesuch.
* Once those tasks have been dealt with, the duel can get underway. The
PC will meet Haki and the latter's modest bunch of noble ne'er-do-wells
somewhere out of the way and (preferably) atmospheric -- a moonlit
glade, at the top of an old fort, by the sea--or lake--side entrance to
an old tomb, or the like. If possible, a contest of wit would be fun as
a starter, and, depending on the PC's success, add to or detract from
the difficulty of the encounter. Whether this would be improvising
poems, riddles, insults or such, I'm not sure.
Once victorious, the PC can return to Fridja and Sigbern for a modest
reward. Perhaps keeping the weapon(s) would be reward enough though?
Well, what say you?

Sounds good, but there should be a way to side with Haki.

Good quest, but I don't think you need to side with Haki really, its fine the way it is.

Well, I really doubt that Haki is going to want any help, let alon allow someone else to do his dirty work.

Nothing really, apart from meaning a load of extra work.
Thinking about it, you might feel inclined to go tell Haki about
Fridja's scheme, I suppose... So say that you decline her offer and go
to talk to Haki... Maybe you could spin it around a bit and act the
saboteur: follow Sigbern when he goes hunting for the weapons, perhaps,
and steal them from him.
Haki's a fairly honest sort though, so poison and any such trickery
goes out the window... Maybe you could help him with the contest of
wits by finding some old skald/bard's writings, or something... You'd
miss the actual duel though, as Haki wants to gut Sigbern by his own
hand. Maybe that is'nt such a big deal though?
I may be a bit locked in the current storyline though, having typed it out. Maybe you have some suggestions, X23?
* * *
Ah...you beat me to it, Siegfried.

Good points all.
One could still implement several ways of dealing with the situations
though -- like stealing the sword from Sigbern's relative, or
persuading him/her, or using spells, for example. Persuading Fridja to
go with Haki right off the bat might be a little boring, but I suppose
the possibility ought to be there. And as you say, a high
personality/charm spell would be a requirement (perhaps getting easier
the more you try/fail in obtaining the enchantment/weapons).
