Hircine's Plane |
|
I just had a really cool idea for a quest.
When a member of the mythic dawn(they are needed to open gates to OB)
trys to open a gate to M. Dagon's realm of existence, he accidently
mispronounces a word and a gate opens to Hircine's Plane of existence.
When you enter you find yourself in a snowy valley, with large daedra
everywhere. They are being hunted by Hircine's daedric minions(dremora
with fur armour on). To close the gate you need to get the pelt of a
daedric beast and give it to the cidial keeper who then closes the
gate.

Nice idea, I can definitely see a trip to Hircine's plain in Skyrim (and maybe a few other
). Not sure if the Mythic Dawn is in Skyrim or not. Either way we
should discuss the Oblivion Crisis taking place in Skyrim in depth. |

Well we know for a fact that mythic dawn are in Skyrim, as the OB
crisis is taking place all over Tamriel(atleast in Cyrodiil and areas
close to it, High Rock as it is further away might not have any) and it
requires someone on this plane to open a gate.
Think of it as more of a gate, locked on both sides. One side has a
key(Oblivion) but that key can't open that side of the door. However
that Key can open the other side, but to open that side of the door you
have to be on that side to begin with. Thats where the mythic dawn come
in. M. Dagon gives to the Mythic dawn a Key (a book), which lets them
open the door.
I hope that clears everything up.

Nice idea, however I see two potential flaws:
a. weren't the Oblivion gates forced open by Dagon from his side? There
is no reference to Mythic Dawn Agents actually opening gates that I can
remember, unless I'm wrong. There were just Oblivion gates sprouting up
everywhere, and I doubt they were all opened with Agents.
b. the 'accidently mispronounces the word' seems weak for a quest like this.
So in essence, the backstory could probably do with some work.
An idea I have is as follows:
The player comes across a gate in the wilderness, however it is
different, as there aren't daedra around it, and it is blue/white
rather than black and red. As you go through you find a dead agent with
a journal, which talks about Mehrunes Dagon attempting to claim an
artifact from Hircine's realm. If you go all the way through, you find
this artifact (undecided on it's nature).
EDIT: you don't find the dead agent as soon as you step through the
gate, you find him a bit further on, maybe before a big battle.

Actually I do have refernces that gates can only be opened from the
nirn side, and only by the Mythic dawn(other partys could if they had
the knowledge, but the knowledge comes from that book thing).
