Music Claim: "Marketplace" |
|
I need a piece of music composed for the City of Riften. This will play
during the day while the player is in the city. It will be a fast
paced, upbeat piece of music, that would fit in a bustling marketplace.
It should sound kind of "twangy", kind of like something you would hear
at a medieval fair/carnival/tournament/festival. If anyone ever played
the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the tune should set the same
"mood" as what played in the Marketplace below Hyrule Castle. |

I'm a mandolin player, which should be able to provide you with the
style of music you're looking for. I'll see if I can get any of my
friends interested in recording some music for you guys. |

Thanks,
I've been following this for awhile... looking very much forward to your first release...
I'm glad to help, I don't know enough about modding to really help you guys out too much
I think a guitar and a mandolin together should be enough, but
depending on what you guys are looking for, I might be able to throw in
a banjo and a fiddle...
I'm just concerned about figuring out a way to get a high quality sound recordings, so I'll work on that.

Once I manage to figure out how to record it.... I'll post some solo
work of mine so you can get a taste of what the mandolin is like...
since most people rarely hear a mandolin in their life. |

Ok, my main concern right now is
A) Finding a method of recording my music
B) Finding some music TO play at all (I'd like to avoid writing it if I
have to, but if I can't find any music which will fit, I'll write it
myself)
But once I figure everything out, I should have it done in not too
long, just a month or two... depending on how many people I can get
into this....
I can't gurantee anything though

You could do each instrument seperately then mix it all together with a
sound editor. That HAS been done before. May be difficult though.

Here http://www.homerpalooza.net/zelda.html
listen to "lein 1" under Replacement on the far left side of the screen
(you don't want the "lein 1" under Realm". Its to lighthearted and
cartoony sounding for Skyrim, but the mood it sets and the general
sound and beat are what I'd like to go for for the "Marketplace" piece.

Yeah, I figured you had given me the wrong one...
Well anyway, I was thinking, the tune is going to have to be a bit more dynamic than just the same feel all through...
For example, do you want it to be very very dramatic with a dramatic start that moves into what you're looking for....
or do you want it to be a bit more subdued and just generally cheerful?

What exactly do you mean by dramatic, like have the piece start out very loud and fast paced?

I have some marketplace kind of music in the works, we can use that in some other town or not
I believe Brunswicks Mandolin will do the job much better for Riften!!
And welcome to Skyrim, I?m looking forward to hearing your stuff!!!

Ok, I've been fooling around with recording my mandolin, and since I'm
getting high speed internet this Friday, I should be able to start
giving examples of the mandolin's many acousitc features....
Well, anyway, I've been wondering, how is the progress for Skyrim going?

Here's an unfinished little ditty I've been trying out my new sound
library with. It probably wouldn't work since it has a strong martial
element but starting around 1:08 it gets more lively and "marketplacey".

I like the first part of it... It might actually be good as an exploration theme for Elsweyr... Did you write the music?

Yeah, it's all original. What culture type is Elsweyr exactly?

I would love to do some trailer music for you as well as contribute to the project. I'll certainly check out the forums.

Have you thought about using the Daggerfall shop theme as marketplace
music? Here's my version of it which would probably need a different
ending to work properly.

Wow!!
The "TES demo 4" is awesome, it?d fit Elsweyr very well I think as an exploration tune.
The theme to shop by is very good but it gets too romantic for a
general town song I think, it sounds very folkly and nordish and
alittle mideival english. Would suit a tavern better I think.
Keep up the good work!!
