The
claim is not granted until I say so. If you receive the claim you are
responsible for developing the questlines of the faction, you are not
responsible for bringing them ingame, but if you are willing that is
great. For the most part you will be free to do with the faction as you
wish as long as it does not conflict with established lore, and fits
into Skyrim. I may intervine and ask you to change something about your
faction on occasion. Check this thread if you are looking for more info or inspiration Factions of Skyrim The guilds are only up for claims now, the other factions will go up later. I will only grant one faction claim to each person.
Things to Note:
-Factions should NOT have plot-lines
like in Oblivion. They should be like in Morrowind where you do jobs to
move upward in the ranks, occasionally some kind of plotline will
pop-up, and there will still be internal politics and conflicts between
members and other factions. Towards the end though there should be a
climax that takes you through the final few ranks and has a plotline.
-Make sure that there are very unique perks that the player gets as they advance in the guild, and unique ways to gain entrance.
Fighters Guild:
Name in Skyrim: Fighters Guild-Skyrim Branch
Companion: Olaf, a wild young Nord Barbarian, he is generally
disinterested in the events in the guild, and spends long stretches of
time in the wilderness hunting and exploring ruins, returning to
civilization to sell his plunder pick up a few merc jobs from the
Guild, blow his money getting drunk in the nearest tavern, start a
brawl, and then get chased into the wilderness empty handed and repeat
the process.
Description: Basically the same as in Cyrodiil, though perhaps
larger, more popular, and more influential than it's counterpart. They
differ from the Cyrodillic Branch because they have much less interest
in honor, protecting the common folk, and fighting evils like the
Blackwood Company. They just do jobs for pay that serve their own best
interests, they should be a true mercenary faction.
Mages Guild: - Claimed by TOYB
Name in Skyrim: Mages Guild-Skyrim Branch
Companion: Olric, the Spellsword twin brother of Olaf, and his
oppisite. Where Olaf is dimwitted, hot-headed, and reckless, Olric is
clever, relaxed and easy going. Despite their differences the brothers
are almost never seperated, Olric accompanies Olaf on all his forrays
into the wilderness, where he takes the time to indulge his passion of
researching the mysterious Falmer. While in town the bulk of Olrics
time is spent reporting his findings to the local guild hall, and then
while his brother gets drunk, he spends his time womanizing.
Description: Basically the same as in Cyrodiil, though not
overly popular because of the Nord's distrust for Magic, it should have
Guild Halls in all the major holds. Their questlines would often center
around researching the Falmer, Werewolves, and Werebears. They also
have an interest in seeking out Nords that can use the Voice and
convincing them to share their knowledge. The Mages Guild has a
long-standing grudge against the Order of Oak and Thorn, Skyrim's
Shaman faction, the conflict centers around trying to gain more
influence than the Order of Oak and Thorn, and also trying to steal
knowledge of runemaul(wielding runes) from the shamans, the shamans
hate the Mages because, well they're always after their Lucky Charms
(runes) Wink You will need to make sure the questlines are compatible
with the Order of the Oak and Thorn.
Thieves Guild: - Claimed by Karzan
Name in Skyrim: Thieves Guild-Skyrim Branch
Companion: Flin, a middle aged Imperial thief from Cyrodiil,
Flin was personally chosen by the Grey Fox to make his way into the
Skyrim Branch of the Thieves Guild and try to reign in their violent
new leader. Flin is an incredibly talented thief, and capable of
talking himself out of nearly any situation.
Description: The Thieves Guild in Skyrim isn't as large in
Skyrim as in Cyrodiil because when a Nord wants something, he kills you
and takes it from your cold dead body. The Skyrim Thieves Guild has a
defined "Mafia" theme to it, they make the inhabitants of areas they
control pay "protection" and bad things happen to people who act
against them.
The Skyrim Branch of the Thieves Guild is filled with infighting. It
was very similar to the Cyrodiilic Branch until a few years ago when a
new Nord leader came to power. His rule is brutal, and he rules with an
iron fist, though he is also obsessed with personal honor, operating by
a strange code, which he also expects his followers to abide by.
Currently there is a large conflict going on between the old thieves
and the new thieves. This post has been edited 3 time(s), it was last edited by The Old Ye Bard: 03.01.2007 02:59.

I'm interested indeed... But I don't think I would be able to do this.
This is one of the only "Beyond Cyrodiil" projects that is actually
going to include the Fighters' Guild, so I wish you the best of luck in
finding a suitable leader for this one.
EDIT: For consistensy's sake, first quest should be killing some rats.

what about Werewolf Hunters?
you kill werewolves and when you return to your guild hall they reward you for every pelt or tooth or skull...
kinda like Vvardenfell's Vampire Hunters guild... you kill vampires and get gold for dust, teeth and hearts

I'd be willing to take on the Fighter's Guild questline, as my computer
still struggling. Do we a name for the leader yet? And are the ranks
the same as in Morrowind and Oblivion? My CS is still not working,
sadly
(something about DirectX although it's installed
)

I was thinking that Olaf would be the illegitmate son of the FG leader
(a bastard.) He doesn't reveal this to the player at first, though, and
it doesn't come out til the end of the questline (although there will
be hints from both the leader, other members and Olaf.)
It won't be a fully fledged storyline as SG doesn't want that, just a
reason for Olaf out in the wilderness so often and for helping your
rise higher in the Guild.
In terms of quests, I'm not too knowledgeable in lore but the rats
quest first, then some criminals, more creature culling, Amerok's idea
(with the noble) and so on.
I'm not quite sure how I should spread them out. Centralised in Riften do you think?
I think a new thread should be made for the Fighter's Guild (just waiting on SG's approval.)

In Siegfried's absence I will grant you the Fighter's Guild Smokindan. Granted
, just make sure that you follow through with this and don't leave it
hanging. Also if the core has decided that something should be taken
out or something of the like you must abide by our decision(We probably
won't though).

I would like to claim the Mage's Guild.
I think it will centre around the Falmer for the first half, and the
second half will centre around Werebears and it's ties to the Order of
Oak and Thorn. Also I think it would be quite nice to have the first
guild master you get Missions from be the guy from Solstheim who was
researching the Falmer(He planned to go to Skyrim so fits in with
lore).

I don't mean it's ingame, but I have written out the both questline out
in full. Oh and if you think that's a lot, I also have five dungeon
claims and two riften claims one being the Order of the Silver Raven's
great hall(bloody massive). Not to mention my other project "An Isle of
Yokuda". I find working a way of relaxing, I practically live on my
computer.

It'd probably be best to first finish modding them before claiming
another one, but you could lay out your plans for someone else to use,
if you want my suggestion.

I won't and can't be modding the questlines in-game, I can however design the questlines.

|
Here is 1/4 of the first part of the Mage'g uild questline that I am making. There will be 8 parts in total.
Part one focus on getting the Pc used to the Falmer amd filling them in about them.
Part two will focus on getting some obscure texts and knowledge about
Lycanothry and werebears from around Skyrim for the Head mage of Riften.
Part Three will focus on the order of Oak and Thorn and what some of the member's are up to.
Part four will be about the Falmer again, this is the last time they will be focused on, but there will be a surprise here.
Part five will then go back to werebears where you meet a man who lives
by himself in the wilderness who is one(sort of like beorn in the
Hobbit), while working with him you then become a werebear.
Part six you find out a plot against the mage's guild from an offshot
of the Oak and Thorn(So it won't conflict). You can't however return to
the mage's guild as you know they won't listen to you and will try and
study you for your "Unique" state. You now work with the bearman to try
and find a cure for it.
Part seven you cure yourself then infiltrate the dungeons of High
Hrothgar. You then are caught and find yourself locked up. While you
are there you over hear members of The Oak and Thorn talking about
there plan. Then you are sprung by the mage's guild who say that the
bearman came to them and told them what had happend.
Part eight you now detroy the offshoot of the Order of Oak and thorns
HQ(Not high Hrothgar, a falmer tower). The leader then escapes. You
track down the leader to find he has resurected X hero. Final showdown,
you are versing undead boss while he is consteintly being refueled by
the leader guy. You must take out the leader guy with long range
attacks to then destroy the undead guy. Then you go back and get
congradulated and presented with lots of goodies, and become leader of
a local guild hall.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is what I have so far in detail.
Mage?s Guild Quest line
To start quests for the mages guild in Skyrim, you must first get the
recommendations from the Cyrodiil district mages guild, which at thee
same time gains you access to the Arcane university.
Questline Part One
A Falmer Hostage
It begins with getting your first assignment Whiterun, from the Falmer
research guy in BM who has recently become the district head mage of
Whiterun. He asks you to go check out a ruin, which he believes to be
Falmer in origin. He says it?s near a small village just outside of
Whiterun; the villages stay away from it as they are very superstitious
and believe if they get to close they will bring bad omens upon them.
He says to first go to the village to see if they know anything about
the ruins. When you get there a villager comes running up to you. They
say that someone?s been taken away from their village by Vile
Snow-Elves. You quickly hurry along to the Ruins, and bandits suddenly
attack you. Once you have killed them, you continue on to the ruins.
When you finally get there, there is two bandit guards in front of the
entrance to the ruins. They do not attack you. When you approach them
they ask who you are and what business you have here. You say that
someone has been taken from the nearby village, and that the villagers
say that he had been taken here by Snow-Elves. They reply that they
don?t know anything about Snow-Elves, but they did take some one
hostage after a raid on a small village. When you ask about the Hostage
they respond that they will give them back for 500 gold.
A) You give them the gold.
B) You don?t give them the gold.
A) Response, They thank you for the gold and then they say that they will have to kill you.
B) Response, They say that you are stupid and now have to kill you.
Once you have killed them you take the key to the door of the tower
ruin off their corpses, and proceed to enter. You fight your way
through the bandits and retrieve the Hostage, also while your there
your eye glances upon a Falmer Artifact, you snatch it and return the
hostage back to the village. You then return to Whiterun with the
Artifact. The researcher says that he is very pleased and that he will
need a few days to examine the piece. He then gives you a few potions
and a spell as a reward.
Markings of a Map
When you return to the researcher after a few days, he says that after
thorough examination of the Artifact that he has found out that etched
into the core of the ice is a map of what seems to be the location of
an old city of elves, or possibly the elusive Falmer. He marks the
location on your map. He says that inside the ruin is meant to be some
sort Crypt where ancient elven Kings where buried, he says that one of
them was Yulherniz-Burnyiztra an ancient warlord who was said to of
been able to bring forth daedra from Oblivion with a single word, the
researcher assumes that buried with him would be items of great
historical value. When you get to the ruins you notice that there is no
animals around the ruins or any sign of life at all, you can feel a
rush of cold sweep upon you. (When in this area a script to enable 30
percent weakness of frost on the player will start, this applies to the
inside of the ruins as well. The ruins are covered with Ice Ghosts.
When you get to the Crypt, coffins of Ice line the walls, you reach the
tomb of Yulherniz-Burnyiztra and open it, and inside you discover his
helm and a sceptre of Ice and 10 frost salts. You return to the
researcher with the relics of Yulherniz-Burnyiztra you have found.

I agree, our guilds were planned to be aoutonomous from the Cyordiil

The questline sounds good, but TOYB, I never granted it to you, a core

Fine, you can claim it, but you should let other people claim the other
factions and focus yourself on learning how to mod the questlines of
your completed factions. |

Currently just the Thieves Guild. In the future the Pit and Order of
Oak and Thorn will go up. Maybe the Order of the Silver Raven too, I've
been planning on doing their questline, but real life is becoming
increasingly busy for me, and I'm not sure if I'll have time to develop
them or not. |

I think that I might claim the Oak and thorn later on so I can make
sure the two questlines are compatible, but that is likely only to
happen in the future not the present.

So what are the remaining factions that are up for claims? |
Currently just the Thieves Guild. In the future the Pit and Order of
Oak and Thorn will go up. Maybe the Order of the Silver Raven too, I've
been planning on doing their questline, but real life is becoming
increasingly busy for me, and I'm not sure if I'll have time to develop
them or not. |
I think that I might claim the Oak and thorn later on so I can make
sure the two questlines are compatible, but that is likely only to
happen in the future not the present. |
By the time the their quests go up the Mages Guild will likely be
complete, so the creator can just look to what you've done to insure
compatibility. |
