I'm working on a snow effect, the hole: it's just the angle at which I took the shot.

Texturing the rims of the leaves might do the trick.

Conifers actually
. I can do pines though. Thats the default size that fraps makes, sorry I can't make it bigger
. The shinyness is just because I turned on the light to make it easier to see. It shouldn't be like that in-game.

Thanks for the trees and great work FLESH! These will really help to
make our wilderness seem more unique. You will keep a version with out
snowy leaves right, for the temperate valleys and stuff? |

Excellent!
Is there any hassle getting them into the game? And are you using Ob textures or your own?

No hassle, I just cannot figure out how to make the leaves hsow up, all
I get it the trunk and the branches. I am using speed tree textures.
Sig: Sure I'll keep a version without snow. I can try to make some more
variations soon, just tell me what you want, longer branmches, wider
trunk, wider branches, longer trunk. Anything at all just ask.

Flesh, if you're trying to get the leaves to show up in the CS, make
sure you have the leaf button along the top of the main screen
selected.
If you can't get them to show up ingame, -well- then I haven't a clue.

Any word from the al(most)-knowing Google? What shows up in-game? Just
the wood there also, or something to indicate that the texture for the
leaves can't be found? |

FLESH perhaps you've already checked this, but maybe it's the alpha map
in the color maps for the leave's textures, if they are black then the
leaves would be invisible, so they need to be white for them to show
up.

Sorry for the delay in replying, didn't see that there were new posts
here. Hmm nothing as of yet, but, when I save, the file comes with some
.tga files. One of them is the leaves. I have been told to convert it
to a .dds but have not tryed it yet. However, I did learn how to UV map
EDIT: When I put an exotic tree I made into the CS, the leaves show up as little squares, where can I go from here?
EDIT2: I have made a break through. When selecting an .spt file for the
tree, it also gives me the option to select the leaf texture.
Unfortunately every time I select it it tells me that it's the wrong
directory. Any clues as to what directory I should put leaf textures
in? (I tried the Textures, and I tried making one called Leaf. No
luck.)

Ok, in itty-bitty steps (us old guys need that
) First, what is "it" that says that you have an invalid directory? Can
you load and save a file from/to a directory, or can you only load.
That might indicate "crippleware." If you can load, modify and save,
but only to a default directory, you might have some kind of
crippleware, but you might also just have to go into the preferences
and set up the directory structure (I realize most programs now do this
more or less automatically, but "back in the day," we had to set a lot
of that stuff manually.)
Another thought: when you installed "it", did it modify the
autoexec.bat file, adding a filepath? I think Max and photoshop do
that, and I had to manually correct that to get the right combination.
Hope this gives you some ideas. And remember, this is all part of the
joy of modding!

I meant the CS, when I am selecting the leaf texture for my tree in the
CS (all beth trees have them aswell) It (CS) tells me that I am
selecting the texture from an invalid directory.

Make sure that the leaf textures are in the same directory or as the ones for the Beth trees.

I have no idea what to tell you. Try restarting your PC or
re-installing the CS, so it can create a new .ini. That's all that I
can think of I'm afraid.

The more horror stories I hear, the more I'm amazed that Oblivion came out at all.
Usually the CS won't crash because of a bad or missing texture, but
because the mesh is corrupted. eg: if the texture filelength indicator
in the NIF is different than the actual texture file length, expect a
crash. If it's crashing when you try to load up the texture, that
filename in the NIF is probably the culprit. |

Actually they probably worked with an even buggyer CS, but they new how to use it to it's full potential as they made it.

Just a little note, You might want to edit existing obliv trees since
if you dont you seemingly can only use a single leaf texture, this
makes your trees look fairly repetitive. It seems to UVW map leaf
positions and use a single DDS (you will note the original textures
have 3 or so leaf clump textures on them) you need speedtree RT I
think? Unless you have figured out another way? you mentioned UVW
mapping on the last page?
