Hey all,
Well, at the moment I'm reading up on Elder Scrolls lore as My
knowledge was Very little. I'm particulary interested in the Skyrim
Project and wish to help as much as Possible...
I'm reading up on the background of Skyrim and it mentions the first
landings of Humanity upon Skyrim By Ysgramor at Hsaarik Head, in the
very north. It go's on about the relation ship between the Atmorans (as
the humans at the time were known) and the elves (were these "Elves"
the Falmer?) and the raising Saarthal on the Night of Tears. It then
says that there were only three survivors, Ysgramor and his two sons.
They go back to Atmora and eventually return to Methrel (as skyrim was
the known) to defeat the Elves....
That is where Ysgramor is no longer mentioned in the battle against the
elves. So I'm guessing He Died in battle? If so, How about a quest to
Find his tomb, or Burial Site? This could be given to you by a Local
nord Chieftam or something...
I'm having Trouble planning this quest out so any help would be much appreciated.
I was also thinking of making a quest In which you find the remains of Saarthal. I'll open a new Thread about this.

That's brilliant, brilliant I tell ya! Yesss... a quest like this would
be great, finding the tomb of a great Lore figure always is (think
Tiber Septim). I can't provide any detailed ideas at the moment because
I don't remember when was the last time I slept, and I don't know where
my head is at... Hey when did I get another monitor... oh wait, I'm
just seeing double. Yeah so I'll get back to you on this later... much
later.

Locating his tomb could definitely be part of the MQ, as to your
suggestion about Saarthaal, I believe that modern day Winter Hold was
constructed on the ruins. |

Well I think this would be a really good quest to be given by a
cheiften, prehaps a decendant of one of Ysgramor's sons. Something like
he needs to get back the faith of his kinsmen and asks you to bring him
the sword of Ysgramor from his long forgotten burial tomb. He doesn't
know where it is but gives you some clues. And as a reward you can keep
the sword or give it to the Cheiften and he gives you a suit of X
armour.

Yea, I like TOYB's idea and Krisi's.
If say, it was one of Ysgramors Descendants, The quest would have to be
given to you from Windhelm, as the palace of the Ysgramor dynasty still
dominates the center of the Old City. So therefore, I'm assuming,
perhaps a descendant woud live there and give you the quest.

I think the Mage's Guild is a better option, in this case.
They're all for exploring ruins, tombs etc. aren't they? TOYB's idea is equally as valid though.

They research so if one is researching the time of Ysgramor, he could give the quest..

I think TOYB's idea about returning the hope of the people (not sure
yet why they lost hope) with the act of returning the sword or whatever
weapon Ysgramor wielded is good. The Mages Guild already revolves
around the Falmer (Falmer ruins), Lycanthropy and the secrets of the
runes.

They lost hope because of the OB crisis and the inefficentcy of their current cheiften

It's amazing...I never actually thought about Oblivion gates in Skyrim.
I only ever thought of them in Cyrodiil and possibly on the Summerset
Isles, because of increased daedra worship.

although, back on the quest topic...I don't really like the idea of keeping Ysgramors sword/weapon.
I reckon, if you were to be able to keep Ysgramors wepaon, you must
REALLY prove your worth...continue helping the descendant of Ysgramor
on a series of very Challenging quests, then, he will give the sword to
you as a gift or something??
Any comments welcomed, so please state your thoughts, cheers

You can keep the sword by not giving it to his descendant, a
"take-it-and-run" kind of thing. It can be the last quest you get from
the descendant guy, or it can be the only quest you get from him.

I think , maybe the player should be given quests which are - first
getting Ysgramor's claymore , and returning it to the descendant , then
helping him in a rather bloody civil war or smtn , in the end he is the
supreme ruler of skyrim , windhelm's glory is restored , and your
reward would be the position of his friend, advisor, second, something
like that , and also a big manor in haafingar perhaps?
btw , my char in Morrowind was a descendant of ysgramor ;P

That's a rather general/vague idea, we would kinda require more detail
(lots) if we were to agree on that suggestion and place it in game. |
