Book Post The Avakiri Occupation of Riverwood Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

(This book will be about the time when Pale Pass was still in working order, I assume from the closeness of Riverwood and Pale Pass that Riverwood was under occupation. This book will be the account of a man who tries to lead a resistance and is the reason why an Pale Pass got covered by a rock slid Wink )

I will post the first part of this book in about an hour :) .

I'm about 3/4 in writing it, however it is a low priority at the moment.

Hey, if you will finish this book and use it in-game, we might just write a book about the same thing, but from the Tsaesci point of view Wink
Just so we will have the same lore about the Akaviri invasion :)

You already have most the lore there is to write a book for your side, as the whole concept of riverwood being under the control of the Avakiri in the past was that Pale Pass was conquered by them.

Yeah, but the official lore does not tell us the whole story, just that Pale Pass was where the Akaviri forces where defeated.
If you plan on making more lore about the invasion of Skyrim, we could use it for the Akavir mod too.

I really wish there was more official lore about the invasions I dunno

Well what happened is the Avakiri invade from the east, conquering Windhelm and going through areas like Amol. They reach Pale Pass and are are forced to be longer than they thought, they had previously conquered Riverwood but now they return to gather resources and enslave the villagers. A hero arises after years of the occupation and throws out the oppresors, and in doing so causes the landslide at Pale Pass. He however dies in the landslide.

Windhelm was retaken along with many other areas as the Avakiri didn't have the forces to maintain them.

TOYB is right about the invasion from eastern Skyrim. I believe Windhelm was the first occupied city. The Akaviri would have occupied atleast all of eastern and central Skyrim during that time if they made it to the Cyrodiil border.

However I don't think the war lasted for years. I also don't believe that the Akaviri were overtaken. If the front line of the invasion was pushed to the Cyrodiil border their main army would have been there. That expains the headquarters being Pale Pass due to it being in a strategic location on the front line. Due to an avalanche or landslide the main force was trapped and was defeated essentially. With the main army gone, the remaining occupational forces in Skyrim would have retreated back to Akavir on the boats they landed with.

If you look at timeline it suggests the invasion happened right after 1E 2702. I remember reading that the events at Wayrest was not the invasion itself but more of scouting. We can assume Windhelm was a better sight for the invasion and the war took around a year.

1E 2702
The entire population of Wayrest city is forced to move into the walled estate of the Gardners as protection against the pirates, Akaviri raiders, and Thrassian plague.
Source: Wayrest, Jewel of the Bay.

1E 2703
Reman I of Cyrodiil rallies the Nibenay Valley's army to join the Colovian Estate's army and destroys the Tsaesci of Akavir at Pale Pass of Skyrim. Then Reman I accepts the surrendered Akaviri raiders to strengthen the Imperial army against the Aldmer. This event marks the birth of the Second Empire of Men.
Source: Pocket Guide to The Empire (1st Edition): Cyrodiil.

I can't say for sure but I seem to remember it was the landslide/avalanche that defeated the main Akaviri army at Pale Pass and not Reman. If I remember right they never even found Pale Pass. He may have come across some remainder of the army and took credit for their defeat. I doubt his army would have beaten the Akaviri army if they pushed through Skyrim and occupied half of it in less than a year.

I like TOYB's tale of a hero being at the right place, at the right time and caused the strategic shift for the war. Yes

EDIT: An idea just came to me, what about explaining that Commander Mishaxhi was in command of Pale Pass due to his Tsaesci superior having to take part of the army to make an attack? That would explain why a human was left in charge and explains how a lesser sized army was left to surrender to Reman after the landslide/avalanche. Yes
