Arrow Haerter's Gap Quest, Heritage Unearthed. Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

This quest is about the founder of Haerter's Gap, Haerter himself.

The quest begins with Tjernagel saying she has been feeling quite cold in her basement, but unnaturally cold, like something was freezing her in her soul. When you take a look in the basement you find that a wall is broken, and it appears to lead into an ancient burial tomb. When you take a look you are approached by the Ghost of Haerter, he says that he died climbing down the mountain, he slipped and fell to his death. Honouring Haerter the people of this mountain pass named it after him, hence Haerer's Gap. They took his body back up to the Gap and created a burial Tomb for him in the tradional Nordic way. Recently a grave robber had come into his Tomb and a stolen his sheild and his sheild. He doesn't really care for the sheild, but he rally wants to have his skull back, as he cannot not find rest without it.

To finish this quest you have to find his skull. The argonian in the quest cold argonian has it, and it is under his bed, when you approach him about it he will simply respond that he doesn't know what you are talking about.

When you return to Haerter's Ghost he thanks you and gives you a spell of Resist frost 40 percent for 60 secs. If you have already complted the Cold Argonian quest you may also give him back his sheild, which he thanks you for, but says that he has no use for it and the PC can keep it.

A basement int will have to be made and connected to the public house via a trap door. I will make the Int myself.

Nice one. May I suggest that the resist frost effect lasts longer, say 300 sec. 60 seconds is too short, the player won't have time to put it to use. If it lasts longer the player might even be able to use it for the White Witch quest.

60 sec is actually pretty long for a spell. But as a compromise how about 120sec, which should be long enough.

I don't know, how many times will the PC be possibly attacked by frost attacks in that period? I don't think too many.
The bonuses you get from shrines in the wilderness last much longer than 120 sec, and there is no quest involved in getting them.

Here is the Int, it still needs a Ghost Shader effect for Haerter's Ghost, and it needs to be linked to the Public house. Also the Skull will have to be added in. None of the actual quest is done yet. The code for it is 1SKxxQ06xx(initials)xHeritage. Dialouge is needed for Tjernagel and Haerter's ghost, also one line of Dialouge for the argionian saying he doesn't know what your talking about. Also the reward spell still has to be made.

I recommend the UndeadBlade shader effect for the ghost of Hearter.

It's very simple, just place the spell named ShaderUndeadBlade (or something like that) in the ghost NPC's list of spells. I think you can find it in the abilities block.

Which quest would you like to take priority, TOYB? Tjernagel can either greet you with the White Witch quest or the Haerter quest. I could make it both if you wish i.e. I have a few matters which need looking into. Recently I've been feeling an unnatural cold and people going missing then a choice b'ween the two.

Both, also Tjernagel says she has been feeling unnaturaly cold in her basement, not just plainly unaturaly cold everywhere. Also she should first talk to you about the White Witch and the bounty on her haed she has placed, then when asked about rumors she will reply about feeling cold in her basement.

She should also give you a small reward if you put Hearter's ghost to rest.

Your probably right, also Tjernagel should probably say something about Haerter being her great gandfather or something of the sorts and that she didn't know that it was him, also she should say something about the argonian sneaking around her Tavern, and that next time she will watch him more closely.

That Argonian likes to "borrow" stuff doesn't he. :D
Btw, why would he steal a skull?

Probably as a trophe or something, but he refuses to say anything of the sort so it's really up to the PC to decide why he stole it.

The skull won't really fit under the bed. Is there a better place for it?

Maybe the chest at the end of his bed?

It's done!

Check it out in the HG thread. You should get money from Tjernagel, a spell from Haerter and get to keep the shield (if you have it.)

Smokindan since you're doing the quest and have all the .esps would you mind putting the ghost effect shader on Hearter?

I'm fairly sure, barring any unforeseen bugs, that it's done.
