A Fiery Frost, Quest Idea |
|
To trigger the quest you must talk to certain people about rumours,
they will tell you that [insert name] is very sad about something. If
you go to her, she'll tell you her brother went into the Caverns of
Eternal Frost(name is subject to change) and did not return. She is
promising her father's sword as a reward for finding her brother.
You enter the caverns and it is completely ice, the walls, floor and
ceiling. There are ice creatures inside. Quite a bit of loot and it is
a VERY large cave. I think it would be suited as a 4 level dungeon.
When you reach the fourth floor, it is just a big room. In the middle
lies a pedestal and beside it, charred remains. You search it and get
the ring of the man. It looks like it has writing on it so it triggers
a journal entry saying you should look for some indication that it
belongs to the woman's brother. You see a cot, a sack and an
exploration/field journal of the brother. You read it and inside it
mentions that the room started getting a bit hot and the pedestal was
glowing, he was going to try putting the special crystal he found into
the pedestal. Your journal is triggered saying you need to find this
crystal. It is on the ground a few feet from the pedestal. You pick it
up and activate the pedestal. The crystal then goes on the pedestal and
your journal comes up saying, "I have placed the crystal on the
pedestal and the room feels a bit hotter, I should stay to find out
what killed [name]'s brother. A few seconds later the ceiling and a
wall collapses and there is fire everywhere. You must get out of the
place. All behind you as you exit, things blow and and set on fire.
You get out, return to the woman and find out that she has fled the
town. Ask around and people will say she was in a hurry to leave town.
This leads you to believe that she aimed at getting you killed. After
about a minute, a man approaches you claiming to be her father. He
tells you that she told her brother about a secret treasure just to get
him killed and then you to go find him. She tricked you. He knows what
you must do and gives you his sword and says it's a pre-quest reward or
something. You have the option to say, "Your daughter said she'd give
this to me" and he replies, "I fear she may have tried to kill me after
you then". He then tells you about the cavern. He mentions that it was
old and long known to be filled with fire traps and it was only a
matter of time before it collapsed into fire. He then tells you that
you must hunt down and kill his daughter. He says that they have a farm
up the road and that she'd most likely lay-low there for a bit before
fleeing the province. You go there and find her. You can either
persuade her to turn herself in or kill her. Either way, you get a
reward of 1000 gold and you can keep the sword.
That's just my small contribution to the quest section.
Use it if you wish.

Cool quest with a neat twist, but I think the reward might be a bit to much maybe 2-400?

Probably not but perhaps it could be more like a no matter what thing.
Say the player threatens instead of persuades and she just tries to
kill you. Either way, nobody would persuade anyway

That sits better with me -- apologies for being "that guy."
Perhaps after persuasion dialogue is completed and the player believes
the girl/woman is intending to follow him/her to turn herself in, she
instead could attack the player. This way although the same quest
resolution is achieved, at least the player can feel like they _tried_
to resolve things peacefully...just my two septims...
And after a cursory reading of the ESF boards, you might be shocked/horrified at what people will try to do during a quest...
