For instance (and this is only one idea), you go into a taveren and meet a dark elf who says that his sword or something was stolen by an angry Nord. He doesn't know where the nord went, but all he knows is that the Nord said something about going into the mountains. Upon accepting the quest (no quest marker) you go around and ask questions, no one can give you any information, but one old man says he saw a stranger who matched the discription of the Nord in town earlyer that day. Asking around a little bit more you find out that the Nord bought a horse from the stables and headed in the direction of the mountains. After heading into the mountains you find the remains of a campfire. After awhile of finding new clues that point you in the direction of the Nord you find him sleeping in his camp, the sword by his side. At this point you have several choices, 1)Kill him and take the sword, 2)steal the sword, 3)talk to him and convince him to give you the sword.
