Arrow Whiterun Quest, In the Walls of Ice Reply to this Post Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Posts Report Post to a Moderator       Go to the top of this page

Note: This is the King/Queen/Count/Baron quest for the Witch Queen, however instead of working for the Witch you are working against her.

Location: Whiterun/Ice Fortress

Quest begins when the queen's advisor comes to you, she says that the witch queen has become shaky of late, she is losing her mind, but at the same time becoming more powerfull. She fears if something is not doneshe might go on a rampage throughout the city. She says that she thinks she is drawing power from her sister, a powerfull sorcerer in the south, currently occuping the Ice fortress. She thinks she has somehow found a way to drain her power, through an ancient artifact called the "Twin eyes of Alduin". She does not know how it works, but she is sure this is what is draining the sister's power. She gives you a key to the Ice Fortress she found in the Queen's private area.

You go to the Ice fortress, surrounded by lots of Ice Atronachs and the Knights of the Fortress of Ice. After battling through them and getting into the castle, there is quite a lot more of them. When they are defeated there is few mind games you have to beat to open the door to the main hall, where the Queen's Sister is.

When you hae beaten them, you proceed into the main hall. With members of the Kinghts of the Fortress of Ice. Along with a big glowing orb in the middle of the room. You kill all of the Kinghts and the Witch talks to you. She says that she is the Grand Witch Witch, Ruler of all and master of the known world. You say that if you kill her she will be free of the Witch Queens draining force. She then laughs at you and says she is the Witch Queen of whiterun. She managed to split her soul using the "Twin eyes of Alduin" and by doing so she could summon power to herself in broad daylight from peoples souls, something the Witch Queen could not do if she did not want a revolt from her people. However there is a downside, while splitting the soul it does not split the mind and so it can become a struggle to remain sane. She then says she has to kill you now as you know to much.

The Big glowing thing (actaully it is two very close big glowing things, the Twin eyes of Alduin) now ressurects all of the knights that where previously int the hall. And the battle begins.

To defeat the Whitch and her minions you must destroy the eyes, if you kill any one before killing the eyes they are resurected, ncluding the witch.

Once you have manged to kill everyone, the hall doors unlock and the PC can leave. Your reward is whatever was on the Witch (major goodies) and if go back to the advisor she says that while you where gone the queen went into sesiures and nearly died. She thnx you for solving the problem and gives you some more goodies.

End.

Great, but I need more comments before moving it to the published section, something still might be wrong with it Wink

Well you may want to decide what the reward is going to be. Maybe a special staff from the Witch Queen, a staff that would do some ice damage, has a big chance to freeze the enemy, and has a small chance to turn the enemy into an ice minion of some kind.

The witch queen would hate your guts at the end of the quest. After all it was apart of her that you kill and she did that to herself in the first place Wink

What I meant was that you will be able to get the staff from THE COLD DEAD BODY of the Witch Queen's "twin"... or clone... or whatever you want to call her (or it).
You did say that a part of the reward will be the loot you will get from the body of the Witch.

true, but you did say witch queen which confusled me Confused

Well really I think it would be cool to "inherit" the ice castle. Maybe after yo've finished the battle there are further pzzles, with better rewards and the last reward of the puzzles would be the Ice castle treating you as the master of the castle (e.g. doors that were previously unpasible now open when you get close like the castle "knows" who you are) and you can summon Knights of the Ice Fortress to your side, and there are ones that guard the castle for you.

Maybe this could be a faction questline? It seems like it would be right up the alley of one of the Orders.

hmmmmm, an entire castle sounds a bit full on, especially with that amount of power.....th.staff or a talisman of some kind, though the eyes could also leave something behind (mayhaps a one-off clone spell)

I would like the castle to collapse, would be cool to have a 'flee before you are crushed type of escape'

No; he means that a castle as a reward is too much i.e. the guards and minions

Or I could be totally wrong :D

I agree that the castle as a reward is too much, though maybe with further puzzles you may gain ownership to it as suggested. Maybe once the witch is dead a whole new quest would become available for the ownership of the castle, something unrelated to any faction, something that will require more thinking and less fighting (since you already have to fight to get inside the castle).

I also like the idea of getting a clone spell once the eyes are destroyed. Yes It's easy to script, though it would be even cooler if the clone could be made to look like a frosty ghost (by applying shaders). The clone will only last for about 30 seconds or so (though that might depend on the player?s conjuration level).

The quest sounds awesome Toyb!! Good job!

I agree the whole castle might be a too big award after the quest, but after some more adventure it?d be a cool super-reward..

I like Psychotics idea?s above!!
The clone spell sounds nice, and it?s right it?s easily scripted - there is a script command named "clone" I believe it is :D . Anyway the command does just that...
I think it?d be cool if the spell required mainly conjuration but also mysticism (having to do with doubling yourself/soul and stuff) maybe...

A sidenote: It?d be nice if the first part where you enter the castle and fight the ice-dudes had some sneaking potential, maybe alt. entrances further up the castle so you can get some highground and use a bow or so...

Anyway, awesome quest(s)!!! Yes

Once you've done the big battle scene in the hall there is no more guyz to verse. But there are more puzzles that open up, say about 10-20 in sequenctual order and each one allow for more access in the castle and guards, weapons, etc.

The eyes are very evil, and they get detroyed so it would be immpossible to use them again.
