Fiction, The Wolf and the Bear |
|
Here is a Nord Fairy tale I've been working with. No quests involved, just a normal bookshop one. What do you guys think?
The Wolf and the Bear
One day a wolf and the bear were walking through the forest.
?I am the strongest and most cunning animal in the world.? Said the bear, for he was very prideful.
?No, none is stronger or more cunning than man.? Said the wolf, for he had met such creatures.
?Show me a man, and we shall see.? The bear said, eager to prove himself.
The wolf led the bear to a mountain pass and watched as an old soldier walked past, back hunched in old age.
?Is that a man?? The bear asked.
?That was a man.? The wolf said, and they waited some more.
Before long, a child came along the road, trailing a wooden duck.
?Is that a man?? The bear asked.
?That will be a man.? The wolf answered, and they patiently waited some more.
Soon a hunter came along the road, bow in hand, and daggers at his belt.
?Is that a man?? The bear asked.
?That is a man.? The wolf agreed.
The bear charged down the mountain side, and the hunter spotted him.
The hunter raised his bow and shot at the bear. The bear felt the arrow
hit his shoulder but he kept on charging down the mountain. The hunter
notched another arrow and fired again. The bear felt the arrow slam
into his other shoulder, but he kept going. The hunter could not get
another arrow before the bear was upon him. He pulled out his daggers
and cut the bear across his nose. The bear felt the pain and retreated
to where the wolf waited.
The wolf grinned as he watched his friend climb up the hill after the encounter with the hunter.
?You where right, Wolf. Man surely is the strongest and most cunning of
creatures. As I drew close he raised a stick and used it to fire two
other sticks at me. And when I was upon him he unsheathed his claws and
scratched me upon my nose.? The Bear admitted his defeat.
?This, my friend is why we do not make friends with man. For man has no
desire to be our friend, always attacking us on sight. Come let us
leave this place.? The wolf led the bear back into the forest.

Hey, cool story
Fairy tales definitely add more flavor to the game world. Interesting though how Nords only have a base intel of 30...

shouldn't it be "notched another arrow".

Yes. It should. Must have forgotten to hit spell checker.
