Shields of Antiquity v1.0 |
|
here is the first public version of the Shields of Antiquity mod.
WIP Thread at:
Official TES Forum
and
Greetings to you all nord lovers
This mod is the product of my devious mind. and with it I set out to add more shield variety to the landscape of Cyrodiil.
with this version, I added 16 new shields, 14 of wich are strongly
added to the Leveled Lists, and two of them are simply acessible by
doing quests...thus they are owned by two unique NPC's(wich i'll not
name here...)
I've tested this mod for quite some time with three diferent
char's...at diferent levels..all worked well, but there is always the
possibility of bugs.. so if you find any bug, please report it here, or
pm me if you want... only by reporting bugs can I improve the mod
in future versions I intend to add more shields, quests, some suits of
armor, a Shield collector, and things that I don't know yet... as the
development goes, ideas will pop up, and I might use them...alternate
ESP's are also planned to improve compatibility
as for incompatibilities and conflicts, i've only found one to date...
a Conflict with BoB's Armory mod... this mod is compatible with MMM so
far... Conflicts and incompatibilities might come up with mods that
alter the leveled lists for shields. if you find any please report them
too
I'm also pretty open to suggestions. if you think you know a way how to
improve this mod, please share it with me in this thread. if you have a
suggestion of possible shields to be added to the mod, feel free to say
it, and if possible some screens
Cheers Gervas

Question I nthe role as a modder for skyrim: Will you also create shields for skyrim or are these gonna be used in skyrim
Question in the role as a oblivion player: Would it be compatible with frans + mmm??
(wip thread link is broken)

i'll create more shields in the future of course, some of wich for
skyrim, if you ppl want me to...and these already released can be use
at will by Skyrim.
This mod is great to use with MMM, specially if you have a level up
reducer mod... as for Frans and OOO, those are mods that I can't
garantee you, cuz they were not used during testing... but if you use
them, I advice you to load my mod last... if you get to know if my mod
conflicts with Frans please report me
BTW if the lvl lists conflict you can always merge them with the list merger released by wrye...

Congrats on the release gervas!
I think a few of those shields could fit well in Skyrim.
If you are interested in making some Skyrim-specific shields feel free
to do so... check out Viking and Norse shield designs for inspiration.

Yeah, we should all play the game once in awhile.
Gervas, have you checked out the shields that Psychotic did awhile
back? Maybe you guys could put your heads together and come up with a
combined plan for each of the holds? |

Yep - never have too many shields. Too bad the Havok is such a pain
ingame. I'd like to make a shield display rack, but it'd be nearly
impossible getting the shields to stay on it. |

Can't the havok for the shields be disabled? I remember Ghogiel
mentioning that he was going to do a havoc-less version of his shields.

They are in the latest Skyrim master file, you can download it here. I'm afraid they're not available for download separately.

I saw that, too. But I'm not sure if the shields would work as shields
if the havok were removed. Might be something worth looking into.

I prefer the hammered brass with iron banding. I can see the smiths in Whiterun making things like that.

I actually played the game today and I found that it works great with
frans + mmm, I found 2 wicker shields, a hoplon and a ........ hoplon
(on a guard).
Somehow the icons seem to be (a bit) messed up, but I've had that with some
frans items aswell (big randomly colored blocks, very strange).
I really liked the hoplon and the .......hoplon (forgot the name), the
wickereds texture is also great but it looks a little too shiny for
this kind of material.

Guess the icon issue of something of my computer then, I think I found
a old hoplon ( a black one) and some hoplon with a frog on it.. or
something like that... Anyways it seems to be compatable so far, I wish
more mods added their unique stuff to leveled lists like you do... it
sucks to have to go to a chest in the market district to get your
items... having uber-stuff on level 1 is jsut boring.

The mesh looks cool, but the texture is too... Roman (though also cool). Perhaps with the appropriate re-tex it could work.
