I was a young lass when I first met him. He walked to me after the village gathering... The wind blew cold and hard that day. I was trying to keep my skirt from fleeing, and as I put both of my hands to do so, so he arrived. So brilliant, so handsome, he spoke with a new word. It was directed at my heart.

As time went on, we exchanged words, and eventually vows. My father had decided to go north, and I would study the languages of the land in the imperial university. But as tongues of neighbors had come and gone, my heart had stayed south, in our homeland.

Yea, no word passed of him by mine ear. and I speak in pity and shame... I am to be wed now to no name, no exorbitances, and my heart to wain. I weep, I weep deeply. I wept alone.

His kinsmen gone in militant rank would send word to me. He had been slain.

This world is cold, it is unforgiving. Do as your heart tells you as it speaks, maidens and laywomen. Do not wait for other things... For if I had stayed with him, so my heart would be fleeting. I seek forgiveness now within the walls of the cathedral.

All this here... Is nothing to what I am now. It has nothing to what it could have been.

It's very good, but I'm not sure whether it would be best as a book, or part of a quest.
