Northern Tales - The Price of Inheritance |
|
Many winters ago, two brothers were born in the small town of
Dunroverik, the new heirs of the clan chief. Both grew to be strong and
brave warriors, masters of the arts of war. But when the eldest, Olaf,
left on a sea raid to Akavir in search of glory and booty. Year after
year, the family heard nothing of him, and presumed him dead. Eomund,
the youngest, had however remained in the area, and became chief when
his father passed away. Taking the beautiful Baron's daughter as his
bride, he settled down.
But not all was well. After seventeen years of peace, Olaf returned. He
had been raiding in Akavir, but had then travelled to Morrowind with a
band of mercenaries. Although initially overjoyed with being united at
his younger brother, he soon grew jealous, feeling he had been
disinherited. Growing more bitter each day, he plotted to take what he
thought as rightfully his, including Eomund's bride. Rich from his
years abroad, he began to hire more mercenaries in secret, and gathered
those loyal to him.
But Eomund too had contacts, and was also rich, so it was not long
before he heard of his brother's plot to kill him. Despairing at the
thought of his own family betraying him, he was forced to raise his own
band to fight off his usurper sibling. After many days of uneasy peace
in the town, the two brothers and their respective militias,
mercenaries and men finally confronted each other on what would become
known as Blood-River Meadow. Both sides had assembled roughly one
hundred crack troops, once brothers and neighbours, now ready to fight
to the death.
From sunrise to sunset the battle raged, and soon all, including
Eomund's three sons, lay dead save for Eomund and Olaf. Fell blows were
exchanged, Yet each of Eomund's swordstrokes were blocked by Olaf's
great shield Hroshnik. while Olaf could not break the power of Eomund's
sword Hrosherik. Exhausted yet determined, wounded yet resilient, they
continued on but eventually they fell, exhausted, and died.

The idea is good, though this should be checked for grammar and
spelling errors (by the head of Lit Dev) before it is used in-game. I
found a few grammar mistakes, but I don't have enough time to check it
all.
Also if I may suggest something: Perhaps you could describe the flow of
the battle in more detail since it's something a Nordic writer is
likely to do (since Nords love tales of battles and all that).

Made a few minor changes, mostly grammer ones. overjoyed is one word
not two etc. And agreed with Pyschotic, Nords love to fight so more
detail in the battle itself would be essential.

Good job Ja-Kha'jay!
One last thing I forgot to add:
quote: |
Taking the beautiful Count's daughter as his bride, he settled down. |
The Skyrim Holds are ruled by Baron-Kings so is should be "the beautiful Baron's daughter".

That would make it about a Hold.. it's about a town.. BTW is a little
bit to mixing... Count, Chief and Town. Town makes it Count's domain
yet Cheifs generally rule tirbes who got their own villages.. (Not that
I'm up to date on SFO(or whatever you use for this project) lore)
