Dancing by the Moonlight
by Sarys Hlaren
Edited by Relamus Veloth

"Light it, will you Sarys?"

Being the only scientific mind in the company, my strong Nord companions revered me for 'unidentified powers'. I kept them in that illusion, since a mage needs every advantage he can get in a group of treasurehunters. In reality, I was no mage of great power.

I put my hand on the logs, they burst into flames.

"There you go."

The Nords I teamed up with, four in total, were strange. They, except for one, were all 'happy'! This was strange for me, I never before met a Nord really happy.

The Nord behaving quite normally was a woman named Edja who had joined us just a day ago when we went by Frostmoth, saying she wanted to flee from the 'relative unsafety' of the fort.

She was probably referring to the missing guards at the fort, we had heard the commander was calling out for an adventurer to find out where and how the guards dissappeared, since the Imperial investigators failed.

"Tell me, what is your purpose, so far from your homelands?" inquired Edja.

"We... We are hunters..." Haefnir said.

"Then what do you hunt?"

"We hunt round little things that shine."

"Treasurehunters?"

"We are going after the treasure of Skoldun, some necromancer who upset the locals around here..."

"He supposedly had weapons made of the special ice the locals use to bury their dead. They're worth a lot." I added.

"That must be exciting" she said with a faint Nord-like smile.

A day later we arrived at the location.

"I will continue to the Skaal village. Thank you for your help." spoke Edja.

"It was our pleasure." I said, with a faint grin.

It was night, we set up camp just out of the view of the tomb, so monsters running out wouldn't see us.

The artifact was a silver dagger, said to be imbued with the "Spirit of the Wolf". In short, the dagger was supposed to be able to kill a wolf with one stab and freeze it's victim. Just to be sure we waited until sunlight before we made our move.

We were in front of the ancient tomb of a long forgotten warrior said to have a bond with the first werewolf. The sweet aroma of death came from the tomb, not a good sign.

"Are you sure this is the place, Sarys? I'd hate to be killed in the wrong tomb." Halof tried joking to lighten the mood, it did not work.

"This is definitely the tomb, keep your swords pointed in front of you, the undead in this place are deadly quick."

"Oh, great, the one weakness undead have and in this godforsaken island they forget to add that!"

"Don't worry too much about the undead though, I enchanted all of your swords with shortlasting fire spells. It will expire in a day or so."

"How good you take care of us, Sarys, I don't know what we'd do without you." Haefnir said while we cautiously sneaked through the small tunnel.

We walked for what seemed to be hours, the tunnel was completely black in front of us.

We suddenly stumbled upon a large, round chamber. In the middle, surrounded by four, seemingly frozen, warriors, was an altar. Upon the altar lay a werewolf, stabbed through the heart with the dagger we were searching for.

Forgetting all caution, we ran towards the altar. Then we saw we had stumbled upon a trapdoor, one that opens when you stand on it.

Darkness.

Pain.

I woke up the first, feeling awful.

"Damn! How are we going to get out of here?!" For the first time this trip, Haefnir had lost his temper.

"Only a werewolf could jump up that high!" Screamed Halof.

"You are correct, Halof."

The three jovial Nords turned around, and at that moment they connected the dots.

The screaming lasted for hours.

Edja.

Well, it's finished. I'd like it if Skyrim picked this up...
