The Nords of the Far North |
|
I recall an in-game book saying something about the citizens of Skyrim
being wilder and less dependent on the trappings of civilization the
farther north one proceeded. Are there any plans at this point on how
to implement this aspect of the lore?
I actually had an idea that Solitude and the surrounding country could
be inhabited perhaps by a completely different type of Nords, not
unlike the Skaal from Bloodmoon. Perhaps they could have a bluish tinge
to their skin, a Dunmer-like hatred for outsiders, and an increased
frost resistance. I could see this turning out some interesting quests,
especially if these rugged tribes were to say, shun the regions
political structure, much to the chagrin of its leaders.
Or maybe, somewhere in the distant north, there is an entire village of
therianthropes? Perhaps a tribe of werebears at war with the
neighboring werewolves- a great opportunity for a quest where the
player can choose sides.
Just some ideas, let me know what you think.

I like the idea, but I since werebears are a rare sight, I suggest
having a village inhabited by vampires in stead. Vampires and
werewolves are also natural enemies so it would make sense.
Since the inhabitants of both villages prey on humans they would have
to compete in order to get enough food for survival and in order to get
food that is in close proximity (no one likes to run for hours on an
empty stomach in order to have snack
). This gives them a good reason for fighting each other I think. |
I love it. I'm a big World of Darkness fan for those of you who
may not already know. If this goes through, you've got to let me be on
the quest design team.

in Morrowind the nords have battle tattoos like face paint and symbols
I think that with the nords if they were going to be made new then they
should be retextured and these tattoos should be reaplied because this
make the nords look more intrestoiing and barbaric jst a thought

I like the ideas.
Unfortunatly, Psychotic is right. Lore contradicts quite a bit.
The pocket guide to the empire does indeed say that, but your idea is fabulous.
I think the were-bear idea is great also. Though I think it would
require OBSE, it is possible. I have a mod called polymorph, and you
can become animals, and daedra.
I would be hard to implement, but if you make it a race ability, that
is only usable once a day, for a couple hours it would be cool. And the
chiefs can use it infinately, whenever they choose. You could also make
a quest to obtain these powers of discipline.
I also agree with Psychotic on the were-bears being rare, I think it
should be one village of were-bears. Then a seperate set of villages
that are warring, vampires, and werewolves. The vampires should be
unique to Skyrim, and not as ugly as Cyrodiil's.
I read a book in Cyrodiil, about vampires, and a scientist or whatever.
He kept asking this guy about vampires, and where they were, and their
powers, then after it all the guy kills the scientist.
But in the book he talks about a race of vampires taht when he tried to
find them they reached up through the ice and grabbed him. Now I dont
think that is possible to mod, but the race is based off of lore.

Immortal Blood
That's the book.
He wanted to know about the vampires of eastern Skyrim. I told him
about the most powerful tribe, the Volkihar, paranoid and cruel, whose
very breath could freeze their victims' blood in the veins. I explained
to him how they lived beneath the ice of remote and haunted lakes,
never venturing into the world of men except to feed.
Movarth Piquine listened carefully, and asked more questions into the night, until at last he was ready to leave.
"I will not see you for a few days," he said. "But I will return, and tell you how helpful your information has been."
True to his word, the man returned to my chapel shortly after midnight
four days later. There was a fresh scar on his cheek, but he was
smiling that grim but satisfied smile of his.
"Your advice helped me very much," he said. "But you should know that
the Volkihar have an additional ability you didn't mention. They can
reach through the ice of their lakes without breaking it. It was quite
a nasty surprise, being grabbed from below without any warning."

Hehe I smell a new type of high level enemy that could be put in 'under lake' dungeons. I really like this idea actually.

Manifesto Cyrodiil Vampyrum is about the Vampires of Cyrodiil..
As a general rule a towns\holds are civilized. Now villages is a
totally different thing.. I can't say I fancy the idea of having a
village full of therianthropes..
But I wouldn't mind investigating some deaths in some hold and finding
both a Vampire and a werewolf on the lose(preferably both killing, only
the vampires of Cyrodiil is said to feed of sleeping people.. (being
civil enough to prefer to do it when they don't feel it..
)
