Fragment: Prophesy of Hakon Raven-Eye |
|
In times of trouble much shall fail,
And blood shall paint the land.
Broken mast and torn sail,
An evil none will withstand.
None shall know and few shall try,
For all reason will be lost.
When ariseth demons of days gone by,
All Nirn shall bathe in Frost.
[the next two verses of the prophesy are lost]
Final judgement it shall come,
When kings feel safe abroad.
The Gods shall put their trust in some,
But their champion shall prove flawed.
[the rest is lost]
****
Basically I wanted to try and add a bit more lore to Skyrim through
ancient prophesies etc, though this turned out a lot more n00bishly
written than I hoped

Analyzation of the Prophecy of Hakon Raven-Eye |
|
Prepared by Brother Jonsi of the Imperial College.
First Verse: Typical doom-saying. nothing special.
Second Verse: I believe this refers to Mauloch, god of the Orcs. He is
a "demon of days gone by," who troubled early Frist-Era Skyrim kings.
When he was defeated, his rage took a physical form blocking out the
sun, what is known as "The Year of Winter in the Summer." [and Nirn shall bathe in frost.]
The first few lines seem to hint that how to stop Mauloch would be by
lost means, reasons, practices, hinting at Jhunal, god of wisdom and
runes, who is no long worshipped by the Nordic pantheon. As to why
Mauloch, who is Malacath, would be angered anew can be found in a study
by a fellow colleague of mine, The State of Trinimac
Third verse: Status is proto-null
Final judgement...when kings feel safe abroad
When they feel safe with the Orsimer, the pariah-folk being allies with
a traditional enemy, fits with brother Brian's Trinimac theory.
But their champion shall be flawed
Failing of the Aedric prophecies? [They require a champion, after all.] I shall consult this with the Moth Priests.
Summary: From the parts of the text available, the obvious message is
thus: To ally with the Orsimer is to invoke the wrath of Mauloch.
Searching for ancient Jhunal teachings to verify his importance.

I really admire your knowledge of lore
and I'm very happy that my poem managed to fit in with some lore

That's pretty good, maybe we could make it into some kind of book, in
which a scholar of some sort analyzes these ancient nordic verses. |

What about a scroll? (not of the magic variety); a few literary scrolls for shorter poems would be neat.
